  • Fig. 1 shows the cutting plate I of a dry-shaver of which the portion which is to be laid against the skin comprises two concentric paths 2 and 3, each of which is provided with apertures 4 and comprises a running surface 5 and 6 respectively.
  • the paths 2 and 3 are relatively separated by a circular depression 1, while a central depression 8 is provided inside the inner part 3.
  • the apertures 4 in the paths 2 and 3 extend into the supporting side-walls 9, l and II, I2 respectively.
  • the central depression 8 comprises a bottom l3.
  • the slits provided in the paths 2 and 3 of Fig. 2 are preferably continuous slitsextending from the interior to the exterior, as is indicated by M, due to which the active shaving surface is increased.
  • the slits l provided in the paths 2 and 3 of Fig. 3 are preferably continuous slits diagonally extending from the interior to the exterior of the plate. These slits are provided in both paths in alignment with each other and may consequently be cut in a single operation, for example with the aid of a free milling cutter.
  • the annular depression 1 may be interrupted in several points, in Fig. 3 for example at [6.
  • the portion of the depression 1 of a rigid construction, for example by means of sufiiciently thick walls and a sufliciently thick bottom at l8, strengthening connections between the paths 2 and 3 are rendered superfluous, so that the depression 1 may be without interruption, which contributes to the shaving capacity.
  • Slits which are widened at their extremities are designated by I9 of Fig. 2.
  • a suitable cutting member belonging to the cutting plate according to the invention is indicated by in Fig. 4. It comprises a certain number of cutting arms 22 and 23 respectively which project from a plane portion 2
  • the cooperation between such a cutting member and the cutting plate according to the invention will be clear without further explanation.
  • Fig. 5 use is made of a star 25 of resilient material which has secured a little chisel 26 to the extremity of each of its arms. It is thus possible to obtain an accurate engagement of each chisel with the running surface.
  • Dry shaving apparatus comprising an annular cup-shaped cutting plate and an enclosed resilient cutting member, said cutting plate being provided with a central recess and with at least two substantially flat concentric annular shaped running surfaces for the said cutting member and comprising at least one ring-shaped recessed portion extending between the running surfaces thereof, side walls connecting said annular running surfaces to said central recessed portion and to said ring-shaped recessed portion between the running surfaces, said apertures extending into said side walls, said ring-shaped portion being integral with said cutting plate and extending below the shaving surfaces of the cutting plate, and said cutting member having at least two sets of concentric cutting elements respectively contacting said two concentric running surfaces.
