2 Claims. (Cl. 150-38) This invention pertains to pocket books and permit the removal of bills one at a time without exposing the contents to the public.

An additional object of this invention is to provide a new and improved pocket book that will permit the placing of a plurality of valued bank notes in a plurality of compartments and allow the user to withdraw individual notes from each of said compartments without drawing the remaining notes in said compartment into View of the public.

Other objects will become apparent as the invention is more fully set forth.

For a better understanding of the invention, reference is had to the attached drawings and the following description wherein a particular form of the invention is outlined by way of example while the scope and spirit of the invention is more specifically pointed out in the claims.

Figure 1 is a top plan view of a bill-fold pocket book, embodying this invention;

Figure 2 is a side elevation of Figure 1;

Fig. 3 is a side elevation of one side of the pocket book with the flap open to show a bank note projecting from the slot and positioned to be extracted therefrom, and

Figure 4 is a sectional View taken along line ll4 of Figure 2.

In the structure indicated in the drawings, a pocket book comprises a double backed container id of leather or similar material of a suitable character. This container has slide fastener connections l l on its edges to enable it to be quickly and effectively closed together. The upper backing l2 of the container has an open slot l3 in its.v

middle portion of rectangular form. Inside the container are leaves i4 and it for holding cards of identification and general use. The slot 43 is reinforced with a metal framework ll on its edges to strengthen and stiffen it. It is wide enough to permit money bills i8 to be readily pulled through the opening without opening the container.

A cover 59 is attached to the container and folds down on top of it, and is held in closed position by a snap fastener element 2.). This cover is provided with a transparent plastic sheet 20 to form a pocket therewith.

folded approximately at its middle to encase the dollar or other money bills placed in the con tainer. This serves as a suitable barrier be.- tween the bills and container leaf and enables the paper money to be withdrawn easily.

The lower backing 22 is a continuation of upper backing l2 and is provided with a similar slot 23 and a framework 24, which operates similarly to that connected with the upper backing, already described. A cover 25 similar to I9 and a continuation thereof is attached to the backing 22 and covers the bills 28 extending therethrough, and is held in closed position by snap fastener element 30. A flap 25 is provided for use in connection with this backing. The purpose of having the double slotted arrangement is to permit the user to segregate different denominations of bills from each other to prevent mistakes in paying out money therefrom.

The bills are folded transversely on the approximate center in the form of Vs and they are inverted alternately as indicated in the drawings. This arrangement permits the end 35 of the first-half 36 of the outside bill I8 which is bent in the form of a V at approximately its center 31 to extend up through the slot I3 as shown in Figure 4, to enable the bill :18 to be extracted from the pocket book. During the time the first-half 36 of the bill I8 is withdrawn through the slot l3, the second-half 38 of the bill it pulls the end 39 of the second bill 49 up towards the slot l3 through the frictional contact between the second-half 38 of the bill I8 and the first-half 42 of the second bill. The bill 411 is bent at approximately its transverse center 45 and has pending its first-half 42 and its secend-half 43, while its center 4| rests on the end at of bill IS. The third bill which would be bent like a V would be added by placing its firsthalf between the second-half 38 of the bill l8 and the second-half 43 of the bill Ail. The fourth bill would be inverted like the bill 40,, etc. This provides a semi-chain arrangement so the lasthalf of the preceding bill will lead the first-half of the subsequent bill up through the slot' before the preceding bill is completely removed from the pocket book. The bills 28 shown in the other side of the pocket book would be bent and positioned in their respective positions in a manner similar to that enumerated above. The covers are raised when the bills are to be used and manipulated as described.

The bills are protected within the container by the slide fastener connections fastening the upper and lower backings securely together, but may be removed one by one in the manner stated as required without diificulty.

The frameworks I1 and 24 serve as chutes through which the bills are pulled and they avoid catching or tearing of the same.

While but one general form of the invention is shown in the drawings and described in the specifications it is not desired to limit this application for patent to this particular form, as it is appreciated that other forms could be made that would use the same principles and come within the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

1. A pocket book of the character described comprising an outer U-shaped cover, an inside U-shaped container nested within said outer cover, a central container for holding cards and dividing said inside container into two compartments, a flexible flap in each of said compartments adapted to contain folded bills, said inside container and flexible flaps having adjoining slots therein to allow the removal of the folded bills therethrough, a slide fastener connecting the opposite free ends of the inside container and coop- 4 crating snap fasteners for securing the adjacent ends of said cover and of said inside container. 2. A pocket book as set forth in claim 1, a metal framework for reinforcing said aforementioned slots and for securing said flexible flaps to said inside container.
