- UNITED STATES PATENT OF ICE.
ISAAC SCHNEER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
MENS DRAWERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 254,506, dated March 7, 1882.
Application filed December 21, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ISAAC SCHNEER, of New York, in the county and State of New York, havein vented an Improvementin Mens Drawers, of which the following is a specification.
Figure 1 is a front view of the improved mens drawers. Fig.2 is a bottom View ofthe crotch. Fig. 3 is a face view of a modification thereof.
The object of this invention is'to avoid the sharp crotch in mens drawers, which at present is produced by the straight seam that joins the legs. Inserted pieces have been resorted to as a means of overcoming the difficulty; but they were a mere doubling of material, as-they did not draw down the central seam.
My invention consists in carrying the edg- I ings or linings of the front slit down and crossing them beneath the crotch, thereby giving the central seam that joins thelegs a support and drawing it down from below. The rise of the central seam and its chafing action will thus be prevented.
A is a pair of drawers constructed in every other respect like ordinary drawers. a is its npperedging or lining. b and c are the edgings or linings of the front slit. These are carried down and crossed beneath the crotch, as is clearly shown in Fig. 2, so that they will beunderneath the middle seam that joins the legs. The advantages above indicated, and others, will be fully realized by this construction. Theremay also be an inside piece placed over the said middle seam, if desired, to cover any roughness in said seam.
The edgings b 0 may, if desired, be crossed above the crotch, as shown in Fig. 3.
A cross-piece may be inserted to unite the edgings b cat the lower end of the slit.
The parts a b 0 may be in one piece, as in Fig. 3.
I claim- In mens drawers, the edgings or linings b andc of the front slit, carried down and crossed on the crotch, substantially as specified.
ISAAC SOHNEER.
