My invention relates to household articles and more particularly to clothes and garment washers.

The object of my invention is to provide a washer adapted to be used in connection with any wash tub or any can, adapted to contain soapy water or the like for the purpose of washing clothes, garments, blankets or the like.

A further object of my invention is to provide a washer of the character indicated above, which will not wear out the wash tub, can or the like in which it is used.

Other objects of my invention may appear in the following specification describing my invention with reference to the accompanying drawings, illustrating a preferred embodiment of my invention.

Itis, however, to be understood, that my invention is not to be limited or restricted to the exact construction and combination of parts described in the specification and shown in the drawings, but that such changes and modications can be made, which fall within the scope of the claims appended hereto.

In the drawings Figure 1 is an elevational side view of a washer according to my invention shown in working position in a tub or the like indicated in broken lines.

Figure 2 is an elevational end view of the washer illustrated in Figure 1 shown in idle position, removed from the wash tub, and

Figure 3 is a bottom plan view of the washer shown in Figures 1 and 2.

Referring now in detail to the drawings, the washer forming the subject matter of my invention has a hand wheel or handle I9. An upright II, made from a at bar, extends through the hand wheel I0, and two pegs or pins I2 and I3 extending through the upright I I just above and below respectively of the hand wheel I secure said hand wheel to said upright.

An upper disk I@ has a slot I5 centrally located therein, and the upright I I extends through said slot I5, so that the disk I4 is slidably mounted on the upright I I.

On the under side of the upper disk I4 four rectangular cleats I6 are fastened and arranged, so that each cleat forms the middle portion of one side of a square, positioned on the disk, so that the upright extends diagonally to this square.

A lower disk I'I is slidably mounted on the upright I I by means of a slot I3 in the lower disk,

but the downward movement of the lower disk 56 2 on the upright is limited by a peg I9 driven through the upright II under the lower disk I"I and at a distance from the lower end of the upright.

On the upper surface of the lower disk II four rectangular cleats 20 are arranged, so that each cleat forms the center portion of one side of a square and the corresponding upper cleats I6 and lower cleats 20 extend at angles of approximately 45 degrees to each other.

On the under side of the lower` disk I'I two rectangular slabs 2| are securely fastened and extend at a distance from each other and parallel to each other. The two outer corners 22 of each slab 2| are rounded off. These slabs 2| are somewhat higher than the distance between the lower end of the upright II and the under side of the lower disk I1, when the latter rests on the peg I9.

To the under side of the two slabs 2| a rectangular protector board 23 is firmly secured. The corners of this board are also rounded off.

To use the washer according to my invention the tub or can 24, which is to be used for washing clothes or the like, is lled with the necessary sudsy water. The washer is placed in the tub and the clothes to be washed are placed between the disks I4 and I'I. Then the washer is twisted back and forth or moved sideways by means of the hand wheel IIJ. Any such movement of the washer forces suds through the clothes therein, so that said clothes are washed thoroughly without overexertion or even hard Work.

The washer according to my invention can be tted to any container adapted to be used as a. wash tub and a can or metal tub used for this purpose cannot be injured or harmed by the washer, because the protector board 23 prevents any wear of the tub by the washer.

Having described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

l.. A garment-washer device adapted for use in connection with a receptacle usable as a wash tub comprising in combination, an upright member adapted to be moved up and down in a receptacle, a horizontally-extending handle rigidly fixed te the upper end of said upright member for facilitating such movements thereof, a pair of fiat dises arranged in superimposed relation and mounted for sliding movement relative to each other on said member, a plurality of spaced cleats on the confronting faces of said discs, the spaced cleats on the confronting faces of each of said discs being arranged in the form of a square with the square of one disc being disposed at an angle with respect to the square of the other disc, the cleats of the respective squares cooperating with each other to hold clothes therebetween when said discs have been moved toward each other, and a slab positioned below the nonconfronting face of the lower disc and dependingly Supported on the latter disc.

2. A garment-washer device adapted for use in connection with a receptacle usable as a Wash tub comprising in combination, an upright member adapted to be moved up and down in a receptacle, a horizontally-extending handle rigidly fixed to the upper end of said upright member for facilitating such movements thereof, said upright member consisting of a substantially at bar, a pair of fiat discs, each disc being provided with a slot of a configuration such as to accommodate said bar, said discs being arranged upon said flat bar so that the latter passes through the slots of the discs and mounted on said bar for slidable movement relative to each other, a plurality. of spaced cleats on the confronting faces of said discs, the spaced cleats on the confronting faces of each of said discs being arranged in the form of a square with the square of one disc REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
