This invention relates to display cards of the easel type which are useful in such locations as counters, windows, and the like for advertising purposes.

It is an object of this invention to provide a display card of the easel type which will embody an integral support means. It is a further object of this invention to provide a display card with a simplified support means which may be readily assembled and which when assembled will provide the requisite degree of rigidity and strength required to properly support the display card in its upright position.

A further object of this invention is the provision of a display card and an integral self-contained support means which will effect maximum economies in manufacture and thus avoid any unnecessary waste of the stock, cardboard or paperboard from which the same is manufactured. The device forming the subject matter hereof, being wholly rectangular in configuration and entirely free of removable cut-outs, attains unusual savings of stock board.

Other objects of the invention will become more apparent as this specification proceeds and the novelty of the device will be pointed out in the appended claims with the requisite degree of particularity.

Figure 2 is a side elevation of the device in the first stage of assembly, and

Figure 3 is a side elevation of the display card in its fully assembled condition.

A blank I9, preferably rectangular in shape and struck from what is commercially known as cardboard or chipboard, is scored transversely adjacent one end, as at I4 and I5, to provide a display surface II, a connector panel I2 and a foot panel I3, respectively. As will be understood, it is intended that the main display panel II shall be imprinted with any desired advertising message, notice, or the like.

The score lines I4 and I5 may take the form of creases, as shown, or any equivalent, such as perforated lines or cut-scores, such as will facilitate the bending or folding of the board Ii] along the lines I4 and I5 While maintaining substantially the normal strength of the material from which the board II) is fabricated.

Support for the display panel I I and the locking means for maintaining it in substantially perpendicular position is wholly contained within the connector panel I2 and the foot panel I3.

As illustrated, it takes the form of spaced apart gate tabs I8 in connector panel I2, set back from score line I I to provide an abbreviated shoulder It to engage the notches IT in the strike-up tabs I6 of which a pair are provided in the foot panel I3.

The first step in the assembly of the device is to fold the foot panel I3 along the line I5 and under the connector panel I2 and the main panel I I, as indicated in Figure 2 of the drawings. The gate tabs I8 are next punched upwardly to admit the strike-up tabs I6 and the latter are forced through connector panel notches I l of the strike-up tabs I6 engage the shoulders It in juxtaposition to the gates I8.

The display panel I I is next bent upwardly into substantially perpendicular position along the score line It and the strike-up tab 20 disposed medially and toward the rear edge of panel I3 is then struck upwardly to engage the rear of the display panel II and lock it in its substantially perpendicular position.

It will be appreciated from the foregoing that the present invention constitutes a novel type of unitary display device, as it is devoid of complex assembly and may be quickly set up for use. Moreover, the structure may be die out in a single operation without any loss of materials embraced within the margins of the blank from which it is made. Because of its rectangular configuration multiple numbers may be cut from a stock board without the necessity of marginal wastage so common in the manufacture of devices of this class.

Since the device forming the subject matter hereof may be modified Without departing from the principles herein set forth, protection is desired in accordance with the full scope of the appended claims.

The invention claimed is:

1. A display card comprising, an elongated strip of cardboard scored transversely to define a main display panel, a connector panel and a foot panel, at least one gate in the connector panel, at least one strike-up tab in the foot panel aligned to enter said gate when the foot panel is folded back upon the connector panel and to project upwardly from the surface of the connector panel to engage the display panel when the latter is moved into a position perpendicular to the interlocked connector and foot panels, and means carried by one of said display and foot panels for locking and supporting the display panel in a position perpendicular to the foot panel.

A. display card comprising, an elongated I 2 until the strip of cardboard scored transversely to define a main display panel, a connector panel and a foot panel, a pair of gates in the connector panel, a pair of strike-up tabs in the foot panel aligned to enter the gates in the connector panel when the foot panel is folded back upon the connector panel and to project upwardly from the surface of the connector panel to engage the display panel when the latter is moved into a position perpendicular to the interlocked connector and foot panels, and a strike-up tab in the foot panel p0- sitioned to engage the face of the display panel opposite that engaged by the first mentioned pair of tabs when the display panel is in its perpendicular position.

3. A display card comprising, an elongated strip of cardboard scored transversel to define a main display panel, a connector panel and a foot panel, a pair of gates in the connector panel, a pair of strike-up tabs in the foot panel aligned to enter the gates in the connector panel when the foot panel is folded back upon the connector panel and to project upwardly from the surfac of the connector panel to engage the display panel when the latter is moved into a position perpendicular 4 to the interlocked connector and foot panels, each of said strike-up tabs being notched to lock the same in engagement with a portion of the connector panel, and a strike-up tab in the foot panel positioned to engage the face of the display panel opposite that engaged by the first mentioned pair of tabs when the display panel is in its perpendicular position.
