Description
' 1950 M. WALD ET AL COLLAR DISPLAY HOLDER Filed March 22, 1947 INVENTORS MORTON WALD JULIUS BROOKS BY JOHN LEAMAN ATTORNEY Patented Jan. 17,
2,495,153 COLLAR DISPLAY HOLDER Morton Wald, New York, and Julius Brooks,
Brooklyn, N. Y., and Minn; said Brooks as New York, N. Y.
Application March 22, 2 Claims. (01. 223-83) This invention relates to a collar display holder for use in displaying shirts with collars thereon.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a collar dis-play holder with an opening in the top whereby access can be had to the front portion of the collar holder to permit the. easy fixing or fastening of the top button of the shirt.
It is another object of the present invention to provide on the holder an easy handle which will be attractively disposed across the top of the holder and by which the collar holder can be extracted from the shirt.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide means on the bottom edge of the holder which will extend laterally into the sides of the shirt whereby to better retain the collar holder in its attachment with the shirt and to prevent its displacement therefrom.
According to the invention, there has been provided a collar holder with an opening in the top and a strip extending across the top from one side to the other either in a diagonal or straight manner to serve as the attractive display for advertising matter and also as a handle by which the holder can be extracted from the shirt and wherein between the handle, there are openings through which access can be had to facilitate the fixing of the top button of the shirt under the holder.
According to a modified form of the invention, there are provided projections which extend laterally from the bottom edges of the holder so as to provide a better attachment of the holder with the shirt.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view looking upon the front of a collar holder wherein there is a portion extending diagonally across the top and wherein there are openings by which access can be had to the interior of the holder to fasten the button.
Fig. 2 is a front elevational view of the form of the invention shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a modified form of the invention in which there are a transversely extending handle portion and an inwardly extending flange whereby to stiffen the top part of the holder.
John Leaman, Duluth, signor to Ira Silvcrman,
1947, Serial No. 736,528
Fig. 4 shows either one of these holders shown in Fig. 1 and 3 inserted in a shirt to display the collar thereof.
Fig. 5 is a transverse cross sectional view taken on line 5-5 of Fig. 3, looking in the direction of the arrows thereof.
Fig. 6 is a modified form of the invention including projections adapted to extend laterally into the shirt whereby to better fix the holder to the shirt.
Fig. '7 is a fragmentary cross sectional view taken on line l-'I of Fig. 6, looking in the direction of the arrows thereof.
' Referring now particularly to Figs. 1 and 2,
It! represents a holder having a depending side wall H on the front of which is a notch l2 adapted to fit over the front button of a neck band type shirt. In the rear of the wall is a second notch l3 adapted to receive a collar button if the shirt being displayed is of the neck band type. Across the top of the side wall and disposed in a diagonal fashion is a handle portion [5 on which advertising matter can be displayed. By the use of the handle l5, the holder can be inserted and extracted from the shirt collar.
Referring now particularly to the form of the invention shown in Fig. 3, it will be noted that there is provided a handle portion l6 which extends straight across the holder and wherein there are provided openings l1 and l8 at the opposite sides of the handle it so that the hand can be inserted into the holder for fixing the top button of the shirt of the neck band type which will lie within a notch I9 in the front of a depending wall 2| of the holder. In order to give more rigidity to the holder, there is provided an inwardly extending flange 22 which will not interfere with the openings l1 and ill but at the same time will provide a more rigid holder piece. Both of these holders as with the old style holders are formed of celluloid and have a glossy finish thereon. Printed matter can be disposed thereon with gold or light colored letters.
Referring particularly to Fig. 4, it will be noted that the holder is readily inserted within the collar of a shirt and will keep the same retained in an upright manner while the shirt is bein displayed in a store window. The shirt is indicated at 23 and is suitably folded so as to properly display the shirt and at the sime time to minimize the space which is consumed by it. Referring now particularly to Figs. 6 and '7, there is shown a still further form of the invention wherein the radially inwardly extending flange 22 is utilized with a diagonally extending handle portion I5. An opening I9 is provided to permit access to the top button of the shirt. On the depending wall, there are provided a plurality of laterally extending projections 24 which will extend into the shirt material and better retain These projections 24 do not in any way interfere with the opening [9 through which access is gained to the shirt button.
While we have preferred coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
