by the line [9 which is parallel to the marginal edge of the portion l8 but is set above the lower edge of the face pocket cover 8 except in the anchor corner 20 where the edge I9 is extended downward to coincide with the lower edge of the facing pocket 8. In this way the stitching at the margin 23 only passes through two thicknesses of material and the pocket cover 9 is free except at the corner. The lower edge of the pocket cover 9 at 2! may be cemented on both the outer and inner sides, on the outer side to the facing cover 8 and on the inner side to the facing cover l0.

As has been previously stated the pocket cover H! has an extension in the flap it which folds over the facing sheet forming between it and the pocket face If), the pocket 6. This construction is the same for the both halves of the wallet shown in Figure 1. y

The facing covers 8 and Id are stitched to the marginal portion 43 by means of through stitching 22. This construction insures considerable flexibility for the wall section comprises the facing sheet I5 and the overlapping fiaps one of which is indicated by the flap H6.

The divider I4 forms a partition in the bill fold section. This structure at the same time also provides considerable rigidity in the lower face of the pocket particularly in the two half sections at either side of the central fold. The appearance also at the inner side of the pocket provided by this assembly is similar to an embossed face with an attractive stitching at its edge. The wallet is also stitched at the side as indicated by the stitching 23, sewing together sheets 8, 9, It and the outer face i on the top side, as viewed in Fig. 1, and the corresponding sheets H, 12 and I3 on the lower side thus making a durable and uniformly appearing construction at the edge of the inner face.

As shown in. the figures the cover 9 extends diagonally over the cover with the cover 8 cut in the same general manner but smaller, the two pockets 2 and 3 being closed only on the two outer edges.

In the construction and assembly of the inner portion of the pocket it will be noted that the sheet element or stay member I5 is provided at its lower edge, Fig. 6 with a slot 24 forming a strap member or loop 25 through which a tab 26 extending from the divider i4 is passed. This tab is slotted upward from the lower edge 2'! of the stay member by means of the slots 28 and 29 so that when the tab 26 is threaded through the slot 24 on the inside of the strap 25, the two lower edges 2? of the divider l4 and 30 of the stay member I5 may be aligned together. The position indicated in Figure 6 is an intermediate position in the construction. When the tab 26 has been threaded through the slot and behind the strap 25, it is bent upwards as indicated in Figure 3 and cemented to the face of the divider M. This construction anchors the divider M in the bill fold pocket at both ends of the bill fold since this construction is similar on both ends of the wallet. The facing or stay member l5 forming the inside of the pockets 6 and l is anchored as described in my copending applications mentioned above, with the facing or stay member l5 being provided with a slot forming a strap 3| at its side end and the flap [6 of the inner pocket cover It being slotted at 32 to provide a strip 33 which threads behind the strap 3i in the member !5. This construction as described in my copending applications, provides flexible adjustment of the facing or stay member l5 to which the divider I4 is flexibly but firmly held. The pocket wallet therefore preserves its flexibility and permits the wallet to be folded about a center fold without causing any bulge in the leather when folded as usually occurs when a great number of bills are put into the wallet.

In the modification shown in Figures 8 and 9, a slightly different type of construction is used for the lower inner face edge of the wallet than that shown in the other figures. Also a different inner pocket construction of the inner facing side pockets is illustrated therein. In this construction on one half of the pocket wallet a complete half pocket is provided, similar to that indicated by the pocket 6 in Figure 1. This pocket is provided with a straight edge although other types of pockets may be used. As indicated at this is formed by the outer facing cover M which folds over at the edge 42 and continues as an inner flap member similar to the fiap 15 of Figure '7. The outer facing cover of the wallet extends the whole length of the wallet and is indicated in Figure 9 by 43. In the view of Figure 8 however, this outer face is viewed from the inner side.

The outer face 43, (Fig. 9) extends around the lower edge as indicated at 44 to the inner face side of the wallet in the extending margin portion or strip 45 which is bent in a sharp bend at 46 to which the inner face pocket elements are stitched. The assembly of this portion of the pocket is finished before the portions 44, 45 and 48 are turned in the position shown in Figure 9. The inner pockets in the structure shown in Figure 8 and Figure 9 comprise a small attached purse pocket book 41 which may be provided with accordion folds 48 and 49 at the sides and a top envelope fiap 50 with a snap clasp 5i buttoning into its component part in the cover 52 of the face of the purse. This whole assembly is sewn to the facing flap 4! on its outer surface. The

lower edges of the purse pocket 41 and the lower edge of the facing member M are stitched together with the outside cover 43. As has been mentioned above this is assembled before the outside face has been turned in the position shown in Fig. 9. The sheet 43 is simply laid over in face to face relation with the purse pocket face 52 of the purse 4'! and with the lower edges of the face 52 and 4| lined up with the lower edge 53 of the sheet 43. These sheets are then stitched together by stitching 54 and thereafter the sheet 43 is turned around the bottom edges of the faces 52 and 4| to the position indicated in Figure 9. In

this position the outside face is stitched to the other faces in the side stitching 55. This construction provides the effect of an embossing at the lower edge of the pocket book on the inside face giving rigidity to this face and forming strength for the base of the pocket purse structure formed on the inner face of the wallet. This type of construction is particularly useful for ladies wallets providing a means for holding small change in the wallet. Combinations with different colors for different prices may be used.

Having now described my invention, I claim: A pocket wallet of the type described, comprising an outer wall and an inner wall, the inner wall comprising a stay member extending substantially the length of the wallet, flap members positioned at each end of the wallet, said flap members each having an extension folding over the top edge of the stay member and secured by a 1051 motion connection to the stay member at enema"? the ends of the wallet, a pair of cover members positioned substantially parallel to said flap member on one half of the wallet, the outer of said cover members and said flap member being coextensive with the end and bottom edge of the outer wall, the inner of said cover members having its lower edge cut short along the bottom edge except for a place at the end of the edge farthest from the end of the wallet, and a line of stitching at the end and bottom edges of the wallet securing the edges of the outer wall, flap member, and cover members along their end and bottom edges except for the cut out portion of the inner cover member.
