My invention relates to a pallet for the female breast and more particularly to a bracket-like extension upon which the breast is carried.

It is among the objects of my invention to provide a breast-support that engages thebreast on the underside thereof, and on a broad area of contact; that supports and simultaneously separates the breasts, preventing a squeezed appearance; that does not flatten or otherwise apply pressure to the front of the breasts; that gently raises the breasts and gives them a youthful appearance; that may be inserted into most inner garments or swimming suits provided with breast pockets. and be secured therein without accessory attachments; that may be made separable from a supporting garment to permit ready transfer to another garment; that may be provided with strap supports; and that may be made of plastic sheet material that is non-wetting, sanitary, and capable of being moulded into a unitary structure light in weight.

I accomplish these and other objects and obtain my new results as will be apparent from the device described in the following specification. particularly pointed out in the claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:

Fig. 4 is a side elevation in section to indicate the use of the pallet with a garment provided with breast pockets.

Referring more in detail to the drawings, reference numerals l0 and il designate two sheetlike wing sections of my pallet respectively, which extend underneath the two breasts of the female body. These two wing sections, which may be rigid in construction, terminate in a flat wall section l2 which may be semi-rigid, and which extends across the front of the chest, underneath the breasts, and which connect the two wing sections together. 1

A central breast dividing portion It extends centrally and upwardly from the flat wall section I 2.

The breast dividing section I! is curved as indicated in Fig. 2 to fit the hollow between the breasts, and may terminate slightly beyond the pointwhere the breasts come closest to each other. The breasts are thus prevented from touching and are maintained in a separated condition.

The two wing sections have a breast supporting surface shaped to conform the'undersurface of 5 the breasts in a desired manner, and may be tilted upwardly to support the breasts in an up-thrust position.

All edges of the device are rounded to prevent digging into the flesh and causing points of pressure.

The contact between the device and the body is by surface areas which are moulded into the natural lines of the body. Thus the device may be worn without discomfort.

The entire device may be made of sheet material and moulded into the desired form.

The material employed may be any well known plasticsubstance, such as cellulose acetate, etc. Preferably the material should be translucent or flesh colored to avoid detection if a portion thereof is accidentally exposed. The material should be thin enough to permit some flexure in the wall and rigid enough to provide a substantial support for the breasts. Since only minor stresses are involved, it is possible to create the device of almost paper thinness practically unnoticeable insofar as weight is concerned.

The device may be inserted into any standard brassiere, swimming suit, or other garment having breast pockets into which pockets the connected; wing sections l0 and II are inserted. The garment will also press the wall section l2 against the body, supplying further anchorage for the device asshown in Fig. 4.

It is also possible to provide securing means with the pallet to insure proper positioning on the body without utilizing other garments for this purpose. Thus apertures l4 and It may be a formed in the two opposite ends of the wall sec- 40 tion l2 for securing shoulder straps l8 and I1 and waist strap l8 for encircling the body to which straps l8 and I1 may be attached at the rear thereof, as shown in Fig. 5. 45 Apertures It may also be formed throughout the device to allow for ventilation of the skin, and to enable the device to be sewn to a garment, if found expedient.

If a low outer gown is worn, the device may be made without extending the dividing section It, as much as is shown, to avoid exposure, or a fabric enclosure 20 provided with an elastic band 2| may garment. The upper portion of the dividing section I! may have a restricted neck 23, to facilitate retaining the enclosure 20.

It will be apparent that by use of my breast pallet the breasts are unflattened, an effect hitherto unaccomplished by other means. Simultaneously the undersides of the breasts may be moulded by the supports to give a desired roundness and upward tilt.

The device may be made to flex with the movement of the muscles across the chest. Portions of the device may be thickened in the moulding process to make it less flexible and more rigid, such as the wing portions and the junctions between them and the flat wall section II.

I have thus described my invention, but I desire it understood that it is not confined to the particular forms or uses shown and described, the same being merely illustrative, and that the invention may be carried out in other ways without departing from the spirit of my invention, and, therefore, I claim broadly the right to employ all equivalent instrumentalities coming within the scope of the appended claims, and by means of which, objects of my invention are attained and new results accomplished, as it is obvious that the particular embodiments herein shown and described are only some of the many that can be employed to attain these objects and accomplish these results.

I claim:

1. A device for supporting the breasts which comprises breast-supporting sections and chestengaging sections, the two sections integral at substantially the Junction of the breasts with the chest wall, each of the breast sup orting sections contacting and supporting the breasts, on the under side thereof only, and extending from one side of each breast to the other side at the lunction line, the upper front edge of each breastsu porting section being entirely below the tip of the breasts, said device made of a single piece of shape-retaining sheet-like material having a 7 central section rising above the upper edge of the breast-supportingsections and positioned between'the breasts, said central section having a shape conforming with the natural surfaces of the chest between the breasts, and smoothly merging with the curved shape of the breast-supporting sections, said breast-supporting sections forming a substantially fixed angle with the chest-engaging sections.

2. The combinationof a garment having a pocket, and a device for supporting the breast positioned in said pocket, said device comprising a breast-supporting section, and a chest-engaging section, the two sections integral at substantially the junction of the breast with the chest wall, the breast-supporting section contacting and supporting the breast on the under side thereof only, and extending from one side of the breast to the other side at the junction line, the upper front edge of the breast supporting section being entirely below the tip of the breast, said sections made of a single piece of shape-retaining sheet-like material, said breast-supporting section forming a substantially fixed angle of support with the chest-engaging section.

The combination of a garment and a breastsupporting device secured thereto said device comprising breast-supporting sections and chestengaging sections, the two sections integral at substantially the junction of the breasts with the chest wall, each of the breast supporting sections contacting and supporting the breasts, on the under side thereof only, and extending from one side of each breast to the other side at the lunction line, the upper'front ed e of each breastsupporting section being entirely below the tip of the breasts, said device made of a single piece of shape-retaining sheet-like material having a central section rising above the upper edge of the breast-supporting sections and positioned between the breasts, said central section having a shape conforming with the natural surfaces of the chest between the breasts, and smoothly merging with the curved shape of the breastsupporting sections, said breast-supporting sections forming a substantially fixed angle with the chest-engaging sections.

4. The combination of a garment having a body section and a pocket, and a device for supporting the breast positioned in said pocket, said device comprising a breast-supporting section, and a chest-engaging section, the two sections integral at substantially the junction of the breast with the chest wall, the breast-supporting section contacting and supporting the breast on the underside thereof only, and extending the garment pressing against the-chest-engaging section to maintain the position of the device in supporting the breast. 5. A device for supporting the breasts which comprises a breast-supporting section, and a chest-engaging section, the two sections integral at substantially the junction of the breast with the chest wall, the breast-supporting section contacting and supporting the breast on the underside thereof only, and extending from one'side of the breast to the other side at the junction line, the upper front edge of the breastsupporting section being entirely below the tip of the breast, said sections made of a single piece of shape-retaining sheet-like material, said breast-supporting section forming a substantially fixed angle of support with the chest-engaging section.

6. A device for supporting the breasts which comprises a plurality of breast-supporting sections integral with each other, each of said breast-supporting sections contacting and supporting breasts on the underside thereof only, and extending from one side of each breast to the other side, and from substantially the junction of the breast with the chest wall to an upper edge, the front position of the edge being entirely below the tip of the breast, said device being made of a single piece of shape-retaining means for securing the breast supporting sections to each other; each or said breast supporting sections contacting and supporting the breasts on the underside thereof only, and extending from one side of each, breast to the other side, and

from substantially the junction of the breast 5 with the chest wall to an upper edge, the front portion of the edge being entirely'below the tip of the breast; said connecting means positioned adjacent the chest wall and having an outline smoothly merging with the breast contacting sur- I faces of the breast supporting sections, and supporting the breast supporting sections so as to maintain a substantially fixed angle of support of one breast supporting section with'respect to the other.
