UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM TAYLOR, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
lVlOP-WRINGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 241,445, dated May 10, 1881.
Application filed March 28, 1881.
To all whom 2t may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM TAYLOR, of Chicago, in the county of (look and State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Mop-Wringer, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is the production of a device by which mops may be easily and conveniently wrung, which device is adapted to be placed in an ordinary bucket or wash-tub.
The invention consists, principally, of two metal skeleton-frames hinged together, each carryingarolier, one of the frames being curved to fit the bottom and the edge of the bucket or tub.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section, showing the same placed in the bucket ready for use; and Fig. 3 is a bottom view of my invention.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Arepresents the main frame, which is formed with the horizontal curved extension a, which fits in the bottom of the bucket E, and with the curved portion a, which is provided with the downwardly-projectin g lugs e e c, which fit over the edge of the bucket, as shown in Fig. 2; and B represents a frame, which is hinged at b b to the frame A. The frame B projects some distance above the top of the bucket, and is bent to form the handle I) at the top, and is provided with the roller 0, which may be of wood or rubber, or both, which is adapted to be (ModeL) pressed against the roller D, which is also of wood or'rubber, or both, journaled in the main frame A, as shown. The roller D is provided at both ends with the extended washersd d, which act as guides for the mop.
In use the mop is to be placed in the bucket between the frames. The rollers are then to be brought forcibly together by means of the hinged frame, and the mop, being thus clamped between the rollers, is to be drawn out from between them, which causes the water to be pressed out, and thus successfully accomplishes the wringing of the mop.
Having thus fully described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The \vringer for mops herein shown and described, consisting of the frame A, adapted to fit the bottom and edge of the bucket, and the hinged frame B, the frames being provided with the rollers (J and D, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
2. The frame A, formed with the curved portion a at the bottom, and the curved portion a/ at the top, in combination with the hinged frame B and the rollers C and D, the curved portion a of the frame A being formed with the projections c, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
WILLIAM TAYLOR.-
