Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD H. MINOR, on BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR, BY MEsNE ASSIGNMENT, T0 JEANNETTE H. MINOR.
HOLDER FOR TOOTH-SOAP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 237,121, dated February 1, 1881.
Application filed March 12, 1880. (Model) To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDWARD H. MINOR, of the city of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented an Improved Oylindrical Receptacle for Tooth-Soap, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to secure and afford a more cleanly and economical method of using and applying tooth-soap.
Figure 1 represents a longitudinal vertical section of the receptacle a, showing the longer diameter of its oblon g mouth, and it also represents the button attachment din position. Fig. 2 represents another longitudinal vertical section of said receptacle a, showing the shorter diameter of its oblong mouth, and it also represents the button attachmentd in position. Fig.
3 represents a perspective view of said receptacle a, showing its cylindrical form, and also its peculiarly-flaring mouth. Fig. 4. gives a sectional view, on line 00 m, Fig. 1, of the receptacle a, showing the ledge c at the bottom.
The receptacle 0, as molded, is open at both ends, is of uniform size, is hollow, and has a brim, I) b b b, at the top, which is oblong in form, and which curves, as shown by said letters b b b b. It also has a ledge or rest, 0, inside at the bottom, extending around the whole of the chamber of the same. Said receptacle a has a button attachment, d, which is used in connection therewith, as hereinafter described. The said receptacle 0. and button attachment (1 are made of glass by means of suitable molds; but the same can also be made of metal, porcelain, rubber, wood,or any other hard or durable material, and may be colored or ornamented, as desired, and of any convenient or suitable size.
The receptacle a is used as follows: The said button attachment (1 is attached, by means of .0
sealing-wax, to one end of a mold of toothsoap cylindrically formed to fit the chamber of said receptacle a. The same is then put into said receptacle a (button end first) and pushed down therein. until the button attachment 61 comes in contact with the said ledge c, where it rests, and the top part of said receptacle a is then sealed by means of a label being pasted across the face of the same.
When it is desired to use the contents of the receptacle a, remove the label at the top and pass a wet brush over the surface, and as the soap shortens, push it up from the bottom with the finger by means of the button 01 until the whole is consumed, keeping the soap in position, when necessary, by allowing the button at to rest upon or against the finger.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A tooth-soap holder having the curved flaring brim b b b b as a continuation of the inner walls,'as and for the purposes set forth.
2. A receptacle for tooth-soap, having the flared brim b b b b and annular ledge c, as and for the purposes set forth.
3. The combination of a tooth-soap holder, having the flared brim I) b b b, annular ledge g, and the button d, as and for the purposes set orth.
EDWARD H. MINOR.
