SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 229,005, dated June 22, 1880. Application filed April 17, 1880. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OLIVER S. OSBORN, of the town'and county of New Haven, State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Sash-Holders for Fastening the Sliding Windows of Carriages, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanyin g drawings, forming a part of same.
The object of my invention is to afford a simple and effectual means of preventing the rat tle of sliding windows in carriages, and, as shown in Figure 1, consists of astationary base, A, having screw-holes a a in each end for the purpose of allowing it to be bolted or screwed to the window-sill or'support in which the window-frame slides.
Connected with the base A by means of a pivot, 22, upon which it works as an axis, is an arm, B having a slot-opening through it, which admits of the shank of the clamp thumbscrew 0 passing through it and into a socket in the base, whereby the movable arm B is held firmlyin any desired position. Connected with the arm at its extremity is a roller, (1, which may be made of any suitable material. I prefer rubber.
Fig. 2 is a side View of my invention, with letters corresponding to the same parts as they are used in connecting within Fig. l.
The simplicity of the construction enables the swinging of the arm B to any desired position needed for fastening the window-frame, the rollerendd being slightly crowded against the frame, Where it may be held securely in position bya turn of the clamp thumb-screw C.
I desire to claim and secure as my invention- A carriage-window-frame fastener consisting of the movable arm B, having at its extremity the roller d, the stationary base A, to which the arm is connected by pivot 11 and the regulating clamp-screw C, all substantially as describe OLIVER S.
