Ma WMM UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BESTER A. SKELLEY, OF DEGATUR, ILLINOIS.
WASH-BASIN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 225,880, dated March 23, 1880.
Application filed January 10, 1880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEs'rER A. SKELLEY, of Decatur, Macon county, Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in VVash-Basins, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification.
My lnvention relates to an article of manufacture, being an improvement in wash-basins; and it consists in providing the rim with a drawer to be used as a receptacle for soap, said drawer being secured to the guides or supports of the drawer by a spring. I attain these objects by the devices illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 'l is a vertical transverse section on the dotted line y y, Fig. 2; and Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section on the dotted line :v w, Fig. 1.
A represents the wash-basin, which may be of stamped tin in one piece, or the ordinary basin made of different pieces of tin.
B is the rim which is found in basins last named. The stamped basins must have the rim supplied.
b b are guides, which may be fastened to the false bottom a and to the rim. These `guides support the drawer C, which slides in and out upon them.
D is a spring` fastened to the side of the drawer, and which impinges in the guides b, to prevent the drawer from sliding out when water is thrown or poured out of the basin. Other fastenings may be used, such as locks or catches.
I do not broadly claim any kind of a soapreceptacle attached to or being a part of a wash-basin; but
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is-
1. As an improved article of manufacture, a wash-basin provided with a drawer in the rim, substantially as shown and described.
2. As an improved article of manufacture, a wash-basin constructed as herein described,
consisting of the basin A, rim B, guides b b, 45
