(Cl. 2-270) This invention relates to a garment and more particularly to the combining of a glove with a sleeve of a garment for the purpose of providing eilicient protection to the wrist and hand from either cold or heat and which may be easily and quickly stored in the sleeve when not needed, the arrangement as set forth may be found especially useful by firemen and other persons engaged in other lines of work, the device when in use providing eillcient protection so that if it is necessary to employ the list for breaking glass it may be done with perfect safety, also will permit the handling of hot devices and allow the hand to be brought in close range of fire without danger of burning or discomfort to the user.

with these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawin s, in which Figure l is an elevational view showing the front portion of a garment and the sleeve associated therewith and constructed in accordance with my invention and illustrating in dotted lines the glove and protector arranged within the sleeve.

Oneofthesleevesofthecoat is indicated bythecharacterlandisconstructed in accordance with the present invention by providing therein a pouch I which opens outwardly through the outer face of the sleeve and at the so free end of said slee e, being normally closed through the use of a separable fastener I preferably in the form of a Zipper. It is to be understood that the pouch or compartment is formed in the sleeve between the outer wall of the sleeve and the or inner lining so that the arm may be readily passed into the sleeve without being interfered with by the pouch or compartment.

A protecting pad 8 has one end thereof secured to the end of the sleeve at the open end of the pouch and secured to one face thereof is a glove 0. 5 The pad if desired. may form one wall of the glove and the fingers and thumb thereof as clearly shown in Figure 5. The pad is stitched or otherwise secured on the sleeve and may be readily swung to assume a position within the compart- 10 ment or pouch after the latter has been fully opened, as shown in Figure 3. When the pouch or compartment is closed the pad as well as the glove carried thereby is completely sealed from view and is entirely out of the way. However, by 15 opening the pouch or compartment the pad and the glove carried thereby may be readily swung downwardly into a position, as shown in Figure 2. so that the hand of the arm of the sleeve may be inserted in the glove with the pad overlying the 20 back of the hand as well as the wrist or in other words forming continuation of the sleeve over the hand. It is preferable that the pad be constructed of asbestos or any other material capable of resisting heat, the glove also being constructed of a 25 like material so that when worn on the hand the latter will be protected from heat as well as cold and further from injury due to the protection afi'orded by the pad. With the device on the hand the latter may be closed and used as a medium for 30 breaking glass and similar material without danger of injury to the hand.

It is preferable after the protecting pad and glove has been brought out of the pouch or compartment for use that the compartment or pouch be closed to prevent catching thereof into obstacles.

It is to be understood that the protecting pad and glove be of a color to match the color of the coat. Thus it will be seen that a very practical and emcient device has been provided which will afford maximum protection to the wrist and hand against both heat and cold and when used by a firemanwillallowthenremantobringthehand incloseproximitytotheflamefor the moi guiding the stream of water or for lifting hot objects or for the opening of doors of burning automobiles and the like without danger of injury.

It is believed that the foregoing description. when taken in connection with the drawings will fully set forth .theconstruction and advantages of this invention to those skilled in the art to which such a device relates, so that further detailed description will not be required.

Having thus described the invention, I claim;

1. In a sleeve of a garment, a pouch formed in said sleeve and including flaps for opening the pouch through an outer wall of the sleeve and at the end of the latter, a fastener for closing the flaps, and a protector pad secured on the free end of the sleeve and capable of being located within the compartment and outwardly thereof, and a glove including a thumb and finger stalls secured on one face of the pad.
