IMPROVEMENT I'N HUSKlNG-PEGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 222,586, dated December 16, 1879 application filed September 20, 1879.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMEs V. GUY, of Macomb, in the county of McDonough and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Husking-Pegs and 1 do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, in which Figure l is a perspective view, and Fig. 2 represents detached parts, which are fully described hereinafter.
- The nature and object of this invention is to construct a husking-peg so that it will not chafe the operators hand; and its novelty consists in constructing the ring so that it can bc fitted loosely to the peg and allow the peg only to turn partially around.
In the drawings, Fig. 1, A represents the peg, to which is loosely fitted the ring B. In Fig. 2 the manner of constructing the peg A and ring B is fully shown. The peg A has a recess, (1, formed in the back somewhat longer than it is wide. The ring Bis formed with an oblong or oval projection, J, around the pin 0, which, when the pin is placed in the hole a, fits in the recess d, which is for the purpose of allowing the peg to partially turn on the ring until the projection J strikes the sides of the recess d. (Shown in dotted lines, Fig. 1.)
The object of fitting the ring to the peg in this manner is to obtain a vibration in the peg when being used, which allows the ring to sit firm on the operators finger without chafing or making the hand sore.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A husking-peg having a recess, d, at or near its center, in combination witlnthe ring B, provided with an oval projecting pin, J, substantially as shown and described, for the purpose specified.
