Description

S. WALTERS.
Eye'lets for Harness Traces.
No. 136,796 PatentedMarchH,1873.
AM 911010 -L mmsM PHIL co m: (ImammacEss) UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE.
SAMUEL WALTERS, OF DALLAS CITY, ILLINOIS. I
IMPROVEMENTIN EYELETS FOR HARNESS-TRACES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 136,796, dated March 11, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL WALTERS, of Dallas City, in the county of Hancock and State of Illinois, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Eyelets for Harness-Tu gs and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing makin g a part of this specification, and to the letters andfigures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawing is a representation of the eyelet'ap'plied to a tug. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the eyelet detached.
This invention has relation to an eyelet for harness-tugs and it consists in constructing the same with a raised and flanged eye, and with a slotted plate, as and for the purpose hereinafter described.
Referring to the drawing, A designates a rectangular plate, made of cast metal, and providedwith an elongated eye, B,havinga raised rim,O, with aflange at b. The plate is inserted between the straps of the tug, throughone side of the eye of which passes the rim 0, the flange b resting against the surface of the strap around the outer edge of its opening. The middle strap a of 'the tug has an aperture made in it corresponding to the plate A, and forming a recess for the latter, which is secured to the tug by stitching around its edge and through the small side slots 12.
This eyelet is adapted for ready attachment to the tug, the edge of the slotted plate A forming a broad flange, which holds it in the leather, while the small flange 12 serves to keep the edge of the leather snug, and to protect it against the wear of the cock-eye.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The eyelet for harness-tugs, consisting of the slotted plate A, having the rim 0 raised from the inner edge of the elongated slot, and the flange I) turned outward from the upper edge of the rim, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in: the presence of two witnesses.
' SAMUEL WALTERS Witnesses:
