IMPROVEMENT IN BRlDLE-ROSETTES AND GAG-SWIVELS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 155,796, dated October 13, 1874 application filed August 29, 1874.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, J OHN E. HARRIS and JOHN J. HARDENBROOK, of the city of Lima, in the county of Allen and State of Ohio, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Bridle Rosette and Swivel Combined; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full,

clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

Figure 1 of the drawing is a representation of a side View of our bridle rosette and swivel. Fig. 2 is a sectional view, and Fig. 3 a detail View, of the same. The-nature of our invention consists in attaching the gagrein runner to the rosette by means of the same screw that confines the two parts of the rosette together, which screw forms a pivot for the said gag-rein runner, and allows it to play freely, as will be more fully understood from the following description.

In the annexed drawings, A B designate the The part A is hollow, to receive the straps hereinafter referred to and the part B forms the back plate or washer, and is centrally perforated to rceive'a pivot-screw, at. The front part or rosette proper may be ornamented in any suitable manner; and the rimof -this rosette is cut away at c for the passage of the tongue of the gag-rein runner D. This runner, which may be made .of leather or metal, is held in place inside of the rosette by means of the pivot-screw a, which will allow free play of this runner, that it may accommodate itself to the movements of the horses head. 0 designates the brow band, which is secured in a recess between the two parts of the rosette by means of teeth or spurs, b, which are on the part A, and which enter the part B, and the strap G is confined between the parts A B, by means of one or more spurs, a, (shown in Figs. 2 and 3,) and the pivot-screw a.

What we claim as new, and desire to secure b Letters Patent, is-
