UNITED STATES PATENT EEicE.
MILTON ISADORE "WINTERS, OF ATLEES STATION, VIRGINIA.
BUCKLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letter/s Patent No. 412,151, dated October 1, 1889. Application filed June 24, 1889. Serial No. 315,341. (No model.)
To all wiz/0171, it may concern:
Be it known that l, MILTON IsADoRE WIN- TERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atlees Station, in the county of Hanover and State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Buckles; and I do declare the followin g t-o be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and iigures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to harness-buckles, and is designed chiefly as an improvement on the buckle which is patented to J. IV. Funk, July 20, 1886,No. 3%,036
The object of the invention is to increase the eilicienc7 of the device and to add to the comfort of the animal by preventing chaiing.
The improvement consists in the tongue on the plate, which is placed in line with the connection of the loop with the said plate and in the link, which is pivotally connected with the haine-tug.
The improvement further consists of the novel features, which will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and which are shown in the annexed drawings, in Which- Figure 1 is a top plan View showing' the application of my invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section on the line Y Y of Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a perspective view or" the plate. Fig. is a perspective View of the haine-tug. Fig. 5 is a modification ot' the loop.
F is the trace or tug, and G the hame-tug, to which the buckle is attached and which comprises the plate A, having the tongue E,
the loop B, pivotally connected with the plate A and with the hame-tug G, and the link C, pivotally connected with the haine-tug G and adapted to be turned over the tapering end ot' the plate A. The trace is further held to the hame-tug by the leather loop g, which is sewed in between the straps of the said tug.
The tongue E is in line with the pivotal connection between the plate A and the loop B and is adapted to enter an opening in the trace F, as most plainl5T shown in Fig. 2.
The link O is provided with a supplemental loop d, to be coupled with the breeching.
In Fig. 5 the loop B has slots b to permit the tongue E entering the tugG before drawing the end of the plate under the loop O.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
1. The combination, with the trace and the heme-tug, of the plate A, having the tongue E, the loop B, pivotally connected with the haine-tug and with the plate in line With the tongue E, and the link O, pivotally connected with the haine-tu g and adapted to swing over the end of the plate A,substantially as specitied.
2. The combination, with the trace, the hametug, the plate A, having the tongue E and the loop B, of the link O,pivotally connected with the haine-tug and adapted to tit over the end ot the plate A and having the supplemental loop d, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MILTON ISADORE NVINTERS.
Witnesses:
