Description

July 4, 1939. F. c. Kr-:ssLER GARHENT Original Filed Dec. 3, 1935 Y F REBER/0| C /f E SSLER Patented July 4, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE Original application December 3, 1935, Serial No. l52,706. Divided and this application October 6, i937, Serial No. 167,623
2 Claims.
The present invention relates to a garment and more particularly to a combination undergarment and top shirt attachment the application being a division of application Serial No. 52,706, filed December 3, 1935.
One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a novelly constructed combined top shirt and undergarment with novel means in combination therewith for detachably securing the top shirt to the undergarment.
A still further'important object of the invention is to provide a garment of this character, in which there is arranged, a two-way stretch belting permitting of free movement of the body of the wearer.
A still further important object of the invention is to provide in combination an undergarment a top shirt which may be detachably connected in a novel manner so as to eliminate the necessity of providing the top shirt with the usual tails if so desired.
Other objects including simplicity of design in construction as well as' low cost of manufacture and comfort will become apparent from the deo scription of the invention, when considered in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the accompanying drawing, wherein, for the purpose of illustration, there is shown preferred embodiments of the invention:
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of the invention, showing the top shirt being removably connected in a novel manner to the drawers or shorts. Figure 2 is a rear elevational view thereof. 5 Figure 3 is a vertical sectional View of Figure 1 taken on the line 3-3 thereof.
Figure 4 is a front elevational View of a modi- 'iied form of the invention in which a combined undershirt and underdrawer garment is provided with a slide fastener element to which the novelly constructed top shirt may be removably attached.
Figure 5 is a rear elevational view thereof, and
Figure 6 is a vertical sectional view o1 Figure 4 taken on the line 6-6 thereof.
1n the accompanying drawing, wherein, for the purpose of illustration, there is shown preferred embodiments of the invention, and in which similar reference numerals designate cor- 55 of the elastic band i0 there is securely fastened responding parts throughout the same, vthe refin the usual manner, one element l2 of a slide fastener.
The reference numeral I4 designates an outer shirt garment, which is tailless and on the lower free edge at the Waistline having secured thereto a companion element I6 of a slide fastener which cooperates with the slide fastener element l2 secured to the belting I0. As will be observed, from observing Figure 2 wherein the back portion of the garment is illustrated there are provided a pair of slide fasteners i8 and 20 which disengage the slide fastener elements i2 and I6 upon a pulling of the respective slide element toward the front of the garment, the drawer portion 8, and the shirt portion i4 being securely fastened together, when the slide fastener elements I8 and 20 are at the rear of the garment as illustrated in Figure 2.
Obviously, the combined shirt and drawer garment may be worn without an undershirt, or if so desired as illustrated, the wearer, may wear the L usual undershirt 22 tucking the tail portion thereof around the waist between the body, and the drawer or shorts 8.
Attention is now specifically invited to Figures 4 to 6, inclusive, wherein there is shown a modified form of the invention, in which it will be observed, that the drawer portion 28 and the undershirt portion portion 30 of an undergarment are connected at the waist thereof by means l of a two-way stretch belting 32. Interposed between the free ends of the shirt 30 and the upper portion of the band 32 and securely fastened therein by means of stitching is the band 36 to which a unit of a slide fastener element 38 is secured. In the same manner as previously described with respect to Figures l to 3, the outer waist 48 has secured on the lower portion thereof, a companionslide element 42 which cooperates with the slide element 38 through the means of the slide elements 44 and 46 to securely detachably connect the outer waist to the undergarment. It will be observed in this respect, as clearly shown in Figure 5, that the outer waist is secured through the medium of the slide fasteners to garment of two pieces, or directly connected to the drawer portion thereof or to a combined undershirt and drawer undergarment. By means of the two-way elastic band construction, the wearer thereof is permitted of free movement, and through the medium of the novel means for detachably connecting the top shirt thereto, the top shirt may be readily removed therefrom for purposes desired.
While there is shown for the purpose of-illustration preferred embodiments of the invention, it is to be understood that it is capable of further changes and modifications without departing from the spirit and scope thereof, and it is intended therefore, that only such limitations shall oe imposed thereon as are indicated in the prior art or in the appended claims.
What is claimed is:
1. In combination, a tailless top shirt, a twopiece undergarment consisting of a pair of shorts, and an undershirt secured together at the waistline thereof by means of a two-Way elastic band, and means secured to the lower portion of the top shirt and the upper portion of the elastic band for detachably securing said top shirt to said elastic band.
2. In combination, a tailless top shirt, a twopiece undergarment including a pair of shorts and an undershirt secured together at the Waistline thereof by means of an elastic band, and a slide fastener secured to the lower portion of the top shirt and to the upper portion of the elastic band for detachably securing the top shirt to the undergarment.
