No. 176,633 2 Claims. (Cl. 128528) The girdle forming the subject matter of this application is a continuation-in-part of the structure disclosed in my prior application Serial Number 855,456, filed November 25, 1959, now US. Patent No. 3,029,822.
This invention relates to girdles of the panty-type formed primarily of all-way stretch material. More particularly, the invention deals with a garment of the kind defined, wherein relatively movable all-way stretch panels are provided at the front of the girdle between the crotch portion and the waistband portion.
The novel features of the invention Will be best understood from the following description, when taken together with the accompanying drawing, in which certain embodimen-Is of the invention are disclosed and, in which, the separate parts are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views and, in which:
FIG. l is a diagrammatic front view of a girdle made accordin to my invention, with part of the construction broken awa the girdle being arranged in flat relationship, in other words, with the front part arranged directly upon the rear part of the girdle.
FIG. 2 is a view, similar to FIG. 1, showing the rear portion of the girdle.
FIG. 3 is an enlarged section, generally on the line 3-3 of FIG. 1, with parts of the construction broken away.
FIG. 4 is an enlarged sectional view on the line 44 of FIG. 1, with parts of the construction broken away.
FIG. 5 is an enlarged section on the line 5-5 of FIG. 2, omitting all background showing; and
FIG. 6 is an enlarged sectional detail view on the line 66 of FIG. 2.
In illustrating one adaptation and use of my invention, I have shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawing a girdle formed of any suitable all-way stretch material, comprising front and side parts 10 and 11 and a back part 12. The side parts It and 11 each have front overlapped panels 13 and 14, respectively, which are integral with the respective side parts, the edges of these panels, where they join the opposed part, being stitched along the lines and 16, the stitchings being omitted to simplify the present illustration. However, ornamental types of stitchings are used to provide an attractive finish along the lines 15 and 16.
Secured to the upper edge of the sides 10 and 11, back 12 and upper edges of the panels 13 and 14 is an elastic waistband, diagrammatically seen at 17 in FIG. 6 of the drawing, and being attached to the upper edges in the manner illustrated in FIG. 6, in other words, with a stitching as at 18 and a stitchin 19, the latter being visible at the outer surfaces of the parts and as represented by the dotted lines in FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawing. Here again, this latter stitching can be of a'decorative type.
Considering FIG. 1 of the drawing, it will appear that the lower edge of the inner panel 14 is rounded, as seen at 14- in the broken away portion of FIG. 1; whereas, the panel 13 has downwardly extending side portions 13', to
ice
which are stitched front leg portions 26 along the lines 21. The leg portions 21) are also stitched to downwardly extending leg parts 16, 11 of the sides 10 and 11 along the lines 22.
In considering FIG. 2 of the drawing, it will appear that the back part 12 of the girdle includes side leg portions 12' stitched to 10' and 11 on the lines of stitchings 23 which join the side parts 10 and 11 with the back part 11-.
The panel 13 includes, centrally of the lower edge thereof, a rounded portion, as at 2 in FIG. 1 of the drawing, and the back part 12 has a similar rounded portion 25 and suitably stitched to these rounded portions and edges of 21 and'12' is a suitable fabric crotch member 26, the attachment of which to the respective edges of the other parts of the girdle being diagrammatically illustrated at 27 in FIG. 5 of the drawing.
Secured to the lower edges of 20, 10', 11, 12 and the crotch member 26 are elastic leg encircling bands 23, the attachment of one of these bands to one of the leg parts 20 being diagrammatically illustrated in FIG. 4 of the drawing. The stitching 29 in FIG. 4 is again omitted from FIGS. 1 and 2 for simplification of these illustrations.
Here again, a decorative type of stitching could be used.
' Secured to 28 are conventional garter supporting straps 39 positioned at the front and rear of the leg portions of the garment, as with other garments of this type and kind.
In attachment of the elastic waistband 1'7 to the upper edges of 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14, this attachment is made 7 before the parts are assembled along the lines 15 and 16 so that upper edges of the panels 13 and 14 are unattached and are free for independent relative movement between the lines 15 and 16. In like manner, it will appear that the lower portions of the panels 13 and 14 are relatively movable, keeping in mind that the panel 14 is attached only at the edges 15 and 16 and is otherwise unattached to the panel 13.
The various parts 10, 11, 12 and 20, including their integral portions, can either be formed of all-way stretch fabrics or from Latex and, when the latter is employed, a suitable flock or other facing is included on the inner surfaces thereof in accordance with known practices in this art, no attempt being shown to illustrate these facings in the drawing.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A girdle of the character described, comprising a body portion of all-way stretch material, said body portion be ng composed primarily of three parts, namely two onepiece side and front parts and a back part, said back part being secured to rear. side edge portions of the front and side parts, each of said front and side parts having integral front panels, side edges of each of the front panels being stitched to the opposed front and side parts, the body portions of said front panels being overlapped and relatively movable between the stitched sides, said front panels extending the major portion of the length of the girdle, the front and side parts and said back part including downwardly extending integralleg portions, the leg portions at the front only of the girdle including two leg forming parts secured to the leg portions of the front and side parts and to the lower edgev of one only of said front panels, and a crotch member fixed to said leg forming parts, said leg portions and the lower edge portion of one front panel.
2. A girdie as defined in claim 1, wherein the lower edge of the other of said front panels is free between the side stitchings of said front panels and is arranged above and adjacent to the crotch member.
