Description

E. COVERT. Rosette for Bridles. No. 215,327.
Patented May I3, 1879.
WITNES INVENTOR ATTORN EYS UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE.
ENOOH COVERT, OF FARMER VILLAGE, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN ROSETTES FOR BRIDLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 215,327, dated May 13, 1879; application filed April 2, 1879.
To all whom it maa/ concern:
Be it known that I, ENooE COVERT, of Farmer Village, in the county of Seneca, and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rosettes for Bridles; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a rosette for bridles, harness, and other purposes, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make of the rosette, made in the form of a circular disk, or in any other suitable form; and in this disk are two slots, at Ct, as shown. B is the loop for fastening the rosette in place. This loop is made of a strip of leather, metal, or other suitable material, and the ends passed through the slots a and lapped over each other on top of the disk or first layer, A.
G is the second layer of the rosette, which is provided with a central slot, 1), to fit over the lapped ends of the strip forming the loop.
D is the third layer, which lies on top of the second layer, and covers the opening in the second layer and the lapped ends of the loop. F is a central rivet, which is passed through the parts, as shown, and firmly and permanently fastens the parts together.
It is evident that any number of layers to compose the rosette may be used, and also that, in place of a central rivet to fasten the parts together, I may use a screw or any other equivalent fastening.
This manner of con structing the rosette combines the two essential qualities of cheapness and durability, and it precludes the possibility of the rosette being rubbed loose from the bridle by the horse.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a rosette for bridles, &c., the loop B, having its ends lapped intermediate the layers, and secured together by the same fastening that holds the layers of the rosette together, substantially as shown and described.
2. The combination, in a rosette for bridles, &c., of the slotted bottom layer, A, loop B, second layer, O, with central opening, one or more additional layers, D, and a central fastening, F, substantially as herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 28th day of March, 1879.
