BEAUTY PARLOR CHAIR Original Filed Dec. 14, 1935 I nvenlor Jun/a MzoJZaa Jj Patented Mar. 14, 1939 PATENT OFFICE? 2,150,120 BEAUTY rAnLoa' 01mm Anna 1!. Mullooly, Greensburg, Pa.
Application December 14, 1935, Serial No. 54,485 Renewed October 22, 1938 4 Claims.
My invention relates generally to beauty parlor apparatus, particularly to a beauty parl'or chair involv g improvements and re-arrangements, and an important object of the invention is to provide a chair of this character which greatly increases the ease of position and general comfort of the subject during beauty operations.
Another important object of the invention is to provide in a chair of the character indicated above, means whereby the head of the subject is made more comfortable during hair drying operations.
Other important objects of my invention will be apparent from a reading of the following descripl5 tion in connection with the drawing, wherein for purposes of; illustration I have shown a preferred embodiment of my invention.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a general side elevational view showing an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 2 is an enlarged front elevational view of the upper part of the back of the embodiment.
Figure 3 is a transverse vertical sectional view taken through'Figure 1 approximately on-the line Figure 4 is a transverse vertical sectional view taken through'thehair drier.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 5 generally designates the chair which is in general form conventional and includes the seat v6,
the back I, the foot-rest 8 and .the padded leg;
rest 9, these parts being supported by the leg arrangements l0 immediately supporting the frame 1 I which has mounted thereon the back land the arm rests l2 in the usual manner.
In accordance with the present invention 1' mount a bracket i3 on therear of the back I having a horizontal tubular portion l4 in which is'a thumb screw IE to act against the horizontal portion IS on an L-shaped bracket 1 I so that the mounted thereinand thereacross the annulus 22 which supports the electrical heating element 23. A protecting screen 24 closes the wide mouth or the device and the back 25 of the device includes Below the head rest 32 is the curved neck engaging head 33 which may be made of suitable compressible material so as to engage the neck of the subject while the back of the head of the subject 16 is disposed in the hollow cup-shaped reticulated rest 32 which includes the supporting annulus 3B and the reticulated cup 35. The rest 32 is adjustable as to height and the drier 20 is adjustable as to height to conform to the adjustment oi the 20 rest and adjustable also toward and away from the rest, -to secure the proper play of drying hot air against the head of the subject. v
Pivotally'm'ounted as indicated by the numeral 36 to the lower part of the curved neck engaging 25 member 33 is the inner end of the link 31 which has its outer end pivoted as indicated at 38 to the lower end of the link 39 which has on ,its upper end the removable disposable material ear cup 40. The links described enable adjusting the ear cups to different subjectsso that the ear cups may overlie the ears of the subject and prevent burning or discomforture thereto which might other- I wise be 'produced by the flow of hot air from the drier against the head of the subject.
It is obvious that the hair-oi. the subject may be dried with the greatest possible comfort to the head of the subject in either a reclining or a sitting-up position according to the adjustment of, the back of the chair. 40
Although I have shown and described herein a preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be definitely understood that I do not desire to limit the application of the invention thereto, and any change or changes may be made in the materials, 45 and in the structure and arrangement of the parts, within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the sub-joined claims.
'What is clainied is:
1. In a device or the character described, a sup- 50 port, a reticulated headrest, and a-hair drier carried by saidsupport to the rear orthe headrest, said drier comprising a frustro-conical casing disposed spacedly to the rear of said, headrest, said casing having an electrical heating element dis-- i1 posed therein and 'thereacross, and an electrically ,operated blower mounted on said casing and having its discharge located within said casing and behind the electrical heating element, so as to cause-heatedair to emerge from the casing and p j impinge against said reticulated headrest.
2. In combination a support, a headrest on said support, a vertically adjustable'headrest on said support, said headrest having a reticulated receptacle for receiving a portion of the hair and head for supporting and drying purposes, a bracket on said support, a drier mounted on said bracket, said drier comprising a casing having its front end open and facing the back of said headrest, adjusting means enabling adjusting said casing on said bracket toaxially align said casing and the said reticulated receptacle, an electrically heating element strung across said casing, and a blower mounted on the casing and having an air discharge directing air forwardly through said heating element and through the open front ofsaid casing and through said reticulated receptacle.
3, In'combination a support, a headrest on said support, a vertically adjustable headrest onsaid support, said headrest having a reticulated receptacle for receiving a portion of the hair and head element.
for supporting and drying purposes, a bracket on said support, a drier mounted on said bracket,
said driercornprising a casing having its front end open and facing the back of said headrest,
adjusting means enabling adjusting said casin an adjustable bracket mounting each ear covering element, each bracket comprising a generally horizontal arm extending laterally fromand pivoted to said headrest, a vertical arm pivoted at its lower end to the outer end of said horizontal arm, and means supportably connecting the upper end of said vertical arm to the ear covering ANNA A.
