3 Claims. (CI. 34-90) This invention relates to a chair with drier and specifically provides an improved article of furniture primarily for use in beauty parlors for the comfort of acustomer and the efficient operation upon the part of the beauty parlor operator.

Anobject of this inventionis to provide a chair with drier wherein the chair includes a reclining surface for a customer and includes a drier as well as adequate space for storage of various articles usually found in beauty salons.

Another object of this invention is to provide a chair With drier wherein the drier includes a member for engaging the upper forehead of a person thereby keeping the heat away from a persons face and permitting a person to receive a facial or the like at the same time the hair is drying.

A still further object of this invention is to provide a chair with drier including improved drier structure together with an improved chair for employment in beauty parlors wherein the various beauty treatments may be carried out simultaneously while the person receiving the treatment is in a comfortable and restful position.

Yet another important object of this invention is to provide a chair with drier which is relatively simple in construction, easy to operate and relatively inexpensive to manufacture.

These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a top plan view of the chair with drier of the present invention;

Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the construction of Figure 1;

Figure 3 is a transverse, vertical section taken substantially along section line 33 of Figure 2 showing the details of construction of several of the drawer-type trays;

Figure 4 is a longitudinal, vertical section taken substantially along section line 44 of Figure 1 and showing the details of construction of the drier mounted on the chair of the present invention;

Figure 5 is a front elevational view of the hair drier of Figure 4 with portions thereof broken away;

Figure 6 is a transverse, vertical section taken substantially along the section line 66 of Figure 5 showing the details of construction of the face engaging memher; and

Figure 7 is a detail section taken substantially along section line 7-7 of Figure 4 showing the details of construction of one of the headrests within the drier.

Referring now specifically to the drawings, it will be seen that the numeral 10 generally designates the chair with drier of this invention including an elongated chair lounge 12 with a drier 14 at one end thereof. The chair 12 generally includes an elongated rectangular upstand- 2,776,496 latented Jan. 8, i955? ing frame member having a foam rubber padded cushion .16 on the horizontal surface and an upwardly inclined cushion 18 on an inclined surface.

As shown in Figure 3, the vertical side portions of the chair 12 are provided with drawers 22 for holding various articles used in beauty operations in a beauty salon. At the end of the chair remote from the drier 14 the vertical surface is provided with a slot for slidably receiving a panel 24 which may be used as a foot support while administering a pedicure to a customer. The arm rest 20 may be employed for giving a person a manicure at the same time she is receiving a pedicure and a hair-set or hair drying. Attached to the chair adjacent the upper end of theupwardly inclined portion 18 is provided an adjustable head rest 26 having a padded cushion 28 for engaging the neck of a person receiving a beauty operation. .It will be seen that the chair 12 is provided with an angular socket 30 for slidably receiving an elongated mounting rod 32 of the head rest 26 and which is held in adjusted position by an adjusting screw 34.

The drier 14 includes an oval-type hood 36 having a fan member 38 mounted at its inner end and driven by a suitable electric motor 40. Spaced from the fan 38 is a screen 42 which is connected to a suitable electrical connection for heating thereby providing a hair drying for a persons hair generally indicated by the numeral 44.. The hood 36 is adjustably mounted on a vertical tubular member 46 by pivot clamp bolts 48. Suitable electrical conduits 5t? pass through the tubular member 46 into a housing 52 where the conduits 50 are connected to suitable electrical circuits through a switch S4 for actuation of the fan 38 and the electrical heating element 42. The forward portion of the hood 36 is provided with a slot 56 for receiving a panel member 58 having a curved interior periphery with a rubber flange 60 thereon. The exterior periphery of the panel 58 is also curved and includes a hand-grip 62. The inner periphery 60 of the panel 58 is projected through the slot 56 and engages the forehead of a person thereby preventing passage of hot air down around the face of the person receiving the hair treatment. Forward of the slot 56 is provided a pivotal section 64 having a hinge connection 66 to the hood 36 wherein this pivotal section may be moved to an inoperative position wherein the persons face is given access for receiving a facial or eyebrow tint at the same time her hair is drying.

At theflower end of the hood 36 is provided a pair of head rests 68 which include a socket-like base memher 70 and a mounting stud 72 with a plurality of transverse apertures 74 for selective engagement with a screw member 76 wherein the padded head rests 68 may be vertically adjusted for various persons thereby enhancing their comfort while enjoying the beauty operation.

The operation of the device will be readily understood. The person may recline on the pads'16 and 18 and simultaneously receive a hair drying, a facial, a manicure and a pedicure or any other beauty operation desired without interrupting any of the beauty operations and without the various operators being in the way of each other thereby increasing the efiiciency of the beauty salon operations and reducing the required time to perform the beauty operations and at the same time provide the customer with a very comfortable and relaxable chair. Obviously, the elements of this invention may be constructed of readily obtainable material such as Wood for the chair and foam rubber for the pads wherein the device may be economically feasible for installation in beauty parlors.

From the foregoing, the construction and operation of device will be readily understood and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordingly all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the appended claims.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

1. A chair with drier comprising a chair having an upwardly inclined supporting surface, a downwardly opening drier hood positioned over said supporting surface, an independently movable panel mounted in said hood for engagement with the forehead of a person, and means in saidhood for vertically adjustably supporting a persons head, said hood including a laterally pivotal front upper section providing access to a persons face forwardly of the movable panel, said panel being removable and including a resilient concave portion for engaging a persons forehead adjacent the hairline.

2. A chair with drier comprising a chair having an upwardly inclined supporting surface, a downwardly opening drier hood positioned over said supporting surface, an independently movable panel mounted in said hood for engagement with the forehead of a person, and means in said hoodfor vertically adjustably supporting a persons head, said hood including a movable section wherein access is provided to a persons face forwardly of said movable panel.

3. A hair drier comprising a hood having an open end for receiving the head of a person, an independently movable panel mounted in said-hood for engagement with the forehead of such person, means in said hood for adjustably supporting the head, said hood having a section disposed generally opposite and at least partially covering the face of such person and extending between said movable panel and said open end, said section being independently movable to afford access to the face.
