2 Claims.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in appliances for beauty shop chairs, the principal object being to provide a headrest and drier support for chairs whereby patrons may recline as they are having their hair dried.

Another important object of the invention is to provide an appliance of the character stated which is capable of adjustments to meet varying requirements.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.

Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevational view showing the drier in supported position and showing a patrons head disposed into the drier and supported by the rest.

Figure 2 is a top plan view of the headrest.

Figure 3 is a rear elevational view of the rest.

Figure 4is a side elevational view of the rest with a portion in section.

Figure 5 is a perspective View of the bracket structure for supporting the rest and drier.

Figure 6 is a perspective view of the rest frame.

Figure 7 is a bottom plan view of the structure shown in Figure 4.

Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen in Figure 1, that numeral 5 generally refers to a beauty shop chair having a reclining back 6. This type of chair has slideways and detents for accommodating the shapes of conventional headrests.

In carrying out the present invention, a bracket structure such as is generally referred to by numeral l in Figure 5 is employed in conjunction with the conventional slideway and detent of a chair back 6.

This bracket structure 1 consists of a cylindrical member 8 having a pair of parallel notched shanks 9, 9 extending therefrom and which are disposable in the usual latch equipped slideways of a chair back 6.

The cylindrical body 8 has a'pair of hinge barrels l0, 10 on the rear side thereof and a leg ll depends rigidly from the body 8 and is equipped with a forwardly projecting foot l2 at its lower end having an opening I3 therein.

A second leg 14 having a large ear formation H3 at its lower end, is provided with a hinge barrel H5 at its upper end aligned with the hinge barrel l0, ID. A hinge pin I1 is disposed through the barrel Ill, 10 and IE to hingedly connect the second leg It to the body 8.

Hingedly connected to the lower portion of the ear I5 as at I8 is a slotted and arcuate-shaped plat l9 disposed against the bottom side of the foot l2. A bolt is disposed through the opening l3 and through the slot 2| of the plate l9 and is equipped with a wing nut 22. Obviously, the angular disposition of the second leg 14 with respect to the first leg ll canb regulated by the bolt 20 and wing nut 22.

A pair of upwardly diverging rods 23, 23 are welded as at 24, their lower ends to opposite side portion of the second leg M. The upper portions of these rods 23, 23 are disposed rearwardly and downwardly as at 25, 25 and then laterally as at 26. The lateral pintles 26, 26 engage into flat apertured members 21, 21 at the ends of a U- shaped frame 28 which is spanned by a head supporting net 29. A strap 30 is suitably secured as at 3|, the rearmost portion of the frame 28 has its opposite end slit as at 32.

Numeral 33 denotes a conventional hair drier, this drier having a shell provided with 'a stud 34 at the upper portion of its front end and over which the slit end 32 of the strap 30 can be disposed for desirably supporting the headrest 28, 29 in the drier.

An ear 35 depends from the bottom of the drier shell and is preferably bifurcated to overlap the ear [5. Suitable detent means 36 are disposed through the ears I5, 35 to secure the drier in place upon the second leg l4.

Obviously, more than one slit 32 can be formed in the strap 30 and the parts may be secured and adjustably fastened in various other ways if desired.

While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. The combination with a drier hood and a headrest, of a support for mounting said hood and rest on the back of a beauticians chair comprising a pair of elongated parallel shank members for attachment to said back, a crosshead connecting said members together, a rigid leg and a swingable leg depending from said crosshead, means to secure the swingable leg to the rigid leg for adjustment toward and from the rigid leg into different set positions, means to mount said hood on said swingable leg for adjustment therewith and for vertical tilting adjustment thereon, means to mount said headrest on said swingable leg for adjustment therewith and for vertical tilting adjustment thereon within said hood, and means to connect said headrest to said hood for tilting thereof by tilting adjustment of said hood.

2. The combination with a drier hood and a headrest, of a support for mounting said hood and rest on the back of a beauticians chair comprising a pair of elongated parallel shank members for attachment to said back, a crosshead connecting said members together, a rigid leg and a swingable leg depending from said crosshead, means to secure the swingable leg to the rigid leg for adjustment toward and from the rigid leg into different set positions, means to mount said hood on said swingable leg for adjustment therewith and for vertical tilting adjustment thereon, means to mount said headrest on said swingable leg for adjustment therewith and for vertical tilting adjustment thereon within said hood, and means to connect said headrest to said hood for tilting thereof by tilting adjustment of said hood, saidlast means comprising a strap extending from said rest and detachably secured to said hood.
