This invention relates to av cap and more particularlyto a cap in the naturey of a hair net. My invention contemplates the provision of a cap in the nature of a hair net which may be arranged on the head of the wearer to infold the hair and thereby retain the coiffure thereof in proper arrangement and iixation.

My invention further contemplates the provision of such a cap which may be worn while sleeping, dressing, disrobing, or while engaged in varied other activities such as games or sports or other physical activities generally and which cap will be extremely comfortable for wear while preventing accidental disarrangement of the coiffure or hair adornment.

Heretofore, hair caps of the net or mesh type have comprised inelastic strands or threads formed with real hair, silk or other such material which, because of their inelasticity, did not serve to properly retain the coiffure in the arrangement in which it has been set.

Caps of this type heretofore used and which were flexible comprised rubber strips which are impermeable to moisture and air and are therefore uncomfortable to wear particularly when engaged in any physical activity. In addition, since such caps were not adapted to stretch in any and all directions, they were not adjustable to conform to the configuration of the coiffure or hair adornment.

My invention, therefore, contemplates the provision of a cap comprising elastic threads interlaced and secured together in the form of a net to thereby provide a cap through which air and moisture may circulate and which is, therefore, extremely comfortable -to wear.

My invention further contemplates the provision of such a net which is adapted to stretch in any and all directions so that it will uniformly adjust itself to the configuration of the coiffure or setting of the hair to thereby retain it in its original arrangement or setting.

Other objects of my invention will be clear from the description which follows and from the drawings in which Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a cap embodying my invention.

Fig. 3 is a perspective rear view showing the cap applied to the head of a person.

Fig. 4 is a plan view of the netting comprising the body of the cap and in normal unstretched position.

Fig. 5 is a plan View of the netting comprising the body of the cap and stretched in a lateral di rection.

Fig. 6 is a plan View of the netting comprising the body of the cap and stretched in a longitudinal direction.

Referring now to the drawings, the elastic netting I0 is secured throughout its border to the elastic band I2, forming a selvage which when the cap is arranged on the wearer contracts under the elastic tension thereof to grasp the head 10 thereabout and thereby completely incloses the hair in the cap.

The netting I0 comprises the elastic warp yarns or threads I4 which interlace the woof threads I6 and which are secured successively thereto 15 in any suitable manner as by stitching.

-In order to permit the cap to more readily adjust itself and conform to the head of the wearer, I prefer to arrange the elastic strip I8 reaching across the cap and secured to the net- 2O ting and at each side thereof to the border band or selvage I2 to thereby divide the cap into a front section and a rear section 22.

- I prefer to construct the front section of shorter circumference from the strip I8 to the border 25 band or selvage I2 than that of the rear section so that the border band or selvage will bearranged on the forehead of the wearer and adjacent the nape of the neck of the wearer to thereby conform substantially to the shape of a feminine head.

Such construction arranges the front section of the border band or selvage extending an angle upwardly from the border band of the rear section.

It will be apparent that a cap is thereby provided which will completely inclose the hair of the wearer and which is adapted to be arranged in conformity to the head of the wearer.

If desired, chin straps 28 may be secured to 40 the border band at each side of the cap which may be tied under the chin of the wearer to thereby assist in comfortably retaining the cap securely on the head ofthe wearer.

In order to prevent disarrangement of the coiffure and to permit the cap to snugly adjust and conform itself thereto, I have provided a netting which will stretch in any and all directions.

By interlacing the elastic yarns or threads preferably equidistant each from the other, I have provided an elastic netting which has substantially square interstices 24 which are preferably comparatively large (see Figure 4).

It will be apparent that upon applying -a tensioning force to the netting in a lateral direction, the warp and Woof yarns or threads will be stretched between the intersecting nodes 26, Whereat the yarns or threads are secured to each other, in the direction of application of the force, the same interstices assuming substantially elongated parallelogrammic form (see Figure 5).

Similarly, upon applying a tensioning force in a longitudinal direction, the warp and Woof yarns or threads will be stretched between the intersecting nodes 26 in the longitudinal direction of application of the force (see Figure 6).

It will be apparent, therefore, that the netting Will stretch similarly in any direction dependent upon the direction of application of tension thereto, and the netting will, therefore,

arrange and adjust itself to conform to whatever configuration the coiifure has assumed.

It will be apparent that I have provided a meshlike hair cap which is permeable toair and moisture and, therefore, extremelycomfortable to Wear and which will prevent disarrangement of the coiffure of the wearer. v

VIt will be apparent that my novel cap will adjust itself to the conguration of the coiffure of the wearer and retain it in its original arrangement.

I claim:

1. A cap comprising an elastic net adapted to 30 stretch in any direction, an elastic bordler secured to the net at the edges thereof to provide an elastic selvage and an elastic strip extending across the netting and secured thereto and to the border at each side of the cap to form front and rear sections of the cap.

2. In a cap, a net comprising a plurality of elastic warp threads, a plurality of elastic Woof threads interlacing the Warp threads and' successively secured thereto to form a substantially cap-shaped member and a band secured to the threads at the ends thereof.

3. In a cap, a plurality of elastic threads interlaced and secured to each other to form a substantially cap-shaped net adapted to stretch in any direction, a band secured to the net around the border thereof to form a selvage and an elastic strip extending transversely across the cap and secured to the netting and to the band to form front and rear cap sections.

4. In a. cap, a plurality of elastic threads interlaced and secured to each other to form a substantially cap-shaped net adapted to stretch in any direction, an elastic band secured to the net around'the border thereof to form an elastic selvage and an elastic strip extending transversely across the cap and secured to the netting and to the band to form front and rear cap sections.
