This invention relates broadly to permanent hair waving machines and more particularly to an attachment therefor for relieving the head of the patron of the weight of the electrical heating element and the electric wires connected thereto; and the invention together with its objects and advantages will be best understood from a study f the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein:

Referring to the drawings by reference numerals it will be seen that 5 indicates generally a conventional electric permanent hair waving machine, and more specically the well-known standard Bonat waving machine, which latter includes among other parts a base 5 having a longitudinally adjustable standard B arising therefrom on which is mounted the bracket 'I suppo-rting the machine proper. The machine proper, indicated by the reference numeral 8 includes among other parts electrical plugs 9 from which lead wires Ill. Attached to the lower or free ends oi' the wires I0 are the electrical heaters I I which are applied to the hair of the patron in the process of permanently waving the hair of the patron.

The invention per se is in the form of a support I2 that is mounted on the bottom side of the machine 8 and consists, in the present instance, of an elongated channel member I3 the sides of which are provided with outstanding integral hooks I4.

Intermediate its ends the member I2 is provided with an opening I5 to accommodate a bolt or other suitable fastening element I6 through the medium of which the attachment I2 is secured to the under side of the machine to extend diametrically thereof.

The projections I 4 integral with the sides of the channel member I3 are in the form of hooks with which the wires I are engaged by being wrapped therearound to an extent sufficient to so suspend the heating elements II from the attachment I2 as to relieve the head of the patron from the combined weight of the heating elements II and the wires I0.

While the hooks III may be arranged as found desirable, it will be noted that at the present instance a longitudinal series of seven hooks extend from each side of the member I3 and include a series of three hooks the bills of which curve in one direction and a second series of three hooks the bills of which curve in a direction facing the bills of the rst mentioned series of hooks together with an intermediate hook I4. In this connection it will be noted that the bill of the hook I4' on one side of the device I3 faces in a direction opposite to the bill of the hook I4 on the opposite side of the member I3.

Such an arrangement has been found tobe most convenient for engaging the wires Il) at opposite sides of the machine with the said hooks, it being understood that the wires are wrapped about the hooks so that the wires are held comparatively taut to the end that the weight of the wires and the electrical heating elements on the free ends of the wires is relieved from the head of the patron.

Thus it will be seen that with this attachment the major portion of the weight of the heating element is carried by the attachment to the greater comfort of the patron in the application of the hair waving process with the result that the operator of the permanent hair waving machine may administer the permanent wave with greater facility and eiciency.

It will also be understood that the holder I 2 may be formed of metal or other suitable material.

It is thought that a clearunderstanding of the construction, utility and advantages of a hair waving machine attachment of the character embodied in the present invention may be had without a more detailed description.

I-Iaving thus described the invention what is claimed as new iszl. In combination with an electric permanent hair waving machine including a circular head having electric wires extending downwardly from the periphery thereof and heating elements electrically connected with the free ends of said wires, a supporting member mounted diametrically on said head at the under side thereof and provided at opposite sides with laterally extending projections positioned inwardly of the marginal edges of the head with which said wires are engaged in a manner to center the heating elements over the head of the patron and to relieve the weight of the wires and the heating elements from the head of the patron.

2. An attachment for electric permanent hair waving machines comprising a channel-shaped member adapted to be bolted to the under side of the machine to extend transversely thereof and having a series of suspension hooks extending laterally from opposite sides thereof for supporting and centering the heading elements of the machine over the head of the user.
