SADIRON-STAND HOLDER.

Be it known that I, FRED A. Lorrn, a citizen of United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Stark and State of ()hio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sadiron-Stand Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

The present invention relates to a device for holding together a sad iron and stand, and aims to provide a novel device of that kind, whereby the sad iron and stand can be put or stored away in assembled relation, without the stand becoming separated from the iron and lost or mislaid.

.Another object of the invention is the provision of such a holder which is simple in construction and practical and convenient in use, as well as being simple and economical to manufacture.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, which will be apparent as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the construction and arrangement of parts as hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein- Figure 1 is a side elevation of a sad iron and stand showing the holder applied.

Fig. 2 is a front end view thereof.

In the drawing there is illustrated an electric sad iron 7 of conventional type, having the handle 8, and a stand 9 is provided on which the iron is supported while heated. The present holder can be used with different kinds of sad irons and stands, including pads and mats used for upporting the irons instead of stands.

The holder comprises a stirrup for supporting the stand 9, and aid stirrup is composed of a bar or strip 10 of suitable metal to extend transversely under the stand, the end portions 11 of the bar being bent upwardly and having apertures 12 in which the lower ends of elastic coil springs 13 are engaged.

A saddle 1 1 is provided to seat on the handle 8 of the iron, said saddle being composed of a small piece or strip of sheet metal, bent to extend over and seat on the handle, and the upper ends of the springs are connected to the ends of said saddle, with the springs 13 stretched and under tension. The saddle 14 is shorter than the stirrup, so that the springs converge upwardly.

The stand 9 is therefore held tightly against the iron 7, whereby when the iron is put or stored away, the stand will be held assembled with the iron.

The saddle and one spring are detachably connected. Thus, the end of the saddle has a. hook 15 and the upper end of the corresponding spring has a loop or eye 16 to engage over said hook, thus providing a convenient means for applying and removing the holder. By lifting the loop 16 from the hook 15, the saddle 14 and springs 13 can be removed from the iron, so that the iron can be used, and when it is desired to put the iron away, the springs are raised, the saddle let placed over the handle and the loop 16 engaged with the hook 15. Before applying the holder, the electric wires or cord of an electric sad iron can be wrapped around the handle support, under the handle 8, as illustrated, and then when the holder is applied, it will assist in holding the cord or wires in place.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is A device for holding together a sad iron and stand comprising a stirrup to extend under and support the stand, a saddle to extend across and seat on the handle of the iron, and elastic springs connecting the ends of the saddle and stirrup, said saddle being of shorter length than the stirrup and the springs converging upwardly.
