ATTORNEY.
Patented Mar. 8, 1938 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SHOULDER STRAP CLIP Ruth Freedman, New York, N. Y. Application September 16, 1936, Serial No. 101,015
2 Claims.
This invention relates to shoulder strap clips, and is an improvement of the invention described in U. S. Letters August 19th, 1924.
Patent No. 1,505,328, dated of under garments against slipping.
is also adapted to The clip detachably support means for holding in proper position various other objects.
In the accompanying drawing enlarged top View Fig. l shows an of an exemplication of the shoulder strap clip in its open position; Fig. 2
is a bottom view of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 represents a section of Fig. 1 on the line 3, 3; Fig. 4 indicates a section of Fig. 1 on the shows a top View of the line 4, 4; and Fig. 5 shoulder strap clip in its closed position connected to a garment and supporting shoulder straps.
A hollow longitudinal support comprises the top wall 2B, the curved side wall 2l, the straight side Wall 22 and Wall 20 comprising the members 23.
the bottom Wall parallel to the The top Wall 20, the curved side wall 2|, and one of the members 23 of th e bottom wall of the support form a longitudinal clamping pocket. The said top Wall 2li, the straight side wall other member 23,
22 and the of the bottom wall form a second longitudinal clamping pocket. The said members 23 at one end thereof are pressed against the top Wall 20 as shown in Fig. 3. The said longitudinal support at one end joins with the locking housing, comprising the top Wall and the bottom projections 3l spaced from and parallel to the said top wall 30, forming the locking pockets 32.
A fastening pin indicated with the cylindrical in cross section is outer member spaced from the longitudinal support and having the tapered end 36, and the inner member 31 positioned the said longitudinal support. The members 35 and 31 are connected by the crown 38.
A clamping bar square in cross section comprises the outer member spaced from the longitudinal support and having the locking hook 4l at one end, and the inner member 42 located Within and fastened to the The members 40 and 42 are necting cross member After the members longitudinal support.
joined by the con- 43.
31 and 42 are positioned Within the longitudinal support, pressure is brought against the top wall 20 and bers 23 of the sai the memd longitudinal support to securely clamp said members 31 and 42 in said support. By this means the member 31 is somewhat attened to securely maintain it in place.
Referring to Fig. 5 the hollow longitudinal support is again indicated with its top Wall 20 and the top wall 30 of its locking housing. The outer member of the fastening pin is again shown at 35 with its tapered end 36. The outer member of the clamping bar is again indicated at 43 with its locking hook 4l. A fragmentary portion of a ladys garment is shown in section at 50. The member 35 of the fastening pin is forced through a portion of the garment 56, and the tapered end 36 is locked to the locking housing having the top wall 30. The outer member 40 of the clamping bar supports a plurality of shoulder straps 60 of under garments and the locking hook 4I of said member 4B is locked to said locking housing having the top Wall 30.
Various modifications maiT be made in the invention and the present exempliiication is to be taken as illustrative and not limitative thereof.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. In a shoulder strap clip the combination of a longitudinal support having longitudinal clamping pockets at the sides thereof, a locking housing at one end of the longitudinal support and having locking pockets, a fastening pin cylindrical in cross section having an outer member with a tapered end, spaced from the longitudinal support, said fastening pin also having an inner member somewhat attened fastened in place in one of said clamping pockets of the support, the tapered end of the pin adapted to be seated in one of the locking pockets of the locking housing and a clamping bar square in cross section comprising an outer member spaced from the longitudinal support and having a locking hook at one end thereof, the latter adapted to be seated in the other pocket of the locking housing, said clamping bar also having an inner member fastened in place in the'other longitudinal clamping pocket of the support, the members of the clamping bar joined by a connectimg-me ber.
2. In a shoulder strap clip the combination of a longitudinal support having a top Wall with side walls extending therefrom, and having a bottom wall comprising a pair of members eX- tending from said side walls and parallel to said top wall, said top Wall, side walls and the members of the bottom Wall forming a pair of longitudinal clamping pockets for the support, a locking housing at one end of the longitudinal a clamping bar square in cross section having an outer member spaced from the longitudinal support and having a locking hook at one end thereof, the latter adapted to be seated in the other pocket of the locking housing, said clamping bar having an inner member fastened in place in the other'longitudinal clamping pocket of the support, the members of said clamping bar joined by a connecting cross member.
RUTH FREEDMAN.
