The garment in each of the forms shown in cludes a body I formed of a front 2, a pair of sides 3, 4 and a, back 5. The upper part of the front consists. of a portion ii for covering the bust of the wearer. The portion 5 has its upper portion formed of a pair of spaced tapered parts i, 8. Extending from the apex 9 of the-tapered part I, throughout the outer side edge of the, latter, throughout the top edge of side 4, throughout the outer side edge of the part 8 and to the apex 10 of 'the latter is a continuous resilient controllingmember of tape or strap-like form of, the desired length. That portion of the garment which borders the lower edge of the member is gathered, as at H. The resilient member has its lower edge connected to the garment by faggotting. It may be desirable at times to provide the garment with a slit or opening at the side or back which would be closed in a conventional manner by a slide fastener, snaps or hooks and eyes, to permit; the garment to be mole readily put. on or removed. The, slit would'pass through and divide the controlling member H3 or H! but would not destroy the continuity of the member so long as the same was fastened together at the place of division. Therefore, it is to be distinctly understood that a reference to the member l3 or 14 as'being continuous, as used throughout the specification and claim hereof is intended to include the member l3 or l4 being in one-piece or divided as explained.
In Figures 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, and 8, the resilient member is indicated at 13 and in Figures 3 and 4 at [4. That portion of the resilient member [3 arranged at the top of the back 5 has secured to its inner face a pair of spaced loop forming members l5, [6. That portion of the resilient member l4 arranged at the top of the back 5 may or may not be provided with the members l5, [6. The member i4 is not shown as being provided with members I5, I6.
The controlling element or member extends from part 1 to part 8 and with its inner lengthwise edge disposed throughout the outer side edges of said parts I, 8, the upper edges of the sides 3, 4, and the top edge of the back 5. The inner lengthwise edge of the controlling element is secured to and throughout the outer side edges of said parts, the upper edges of the said sides and the top edge of the said back. The ends of said controlling element are substantially flush with the inner side edges of the said parts I, 8. The ends of the controlling member are in the form of attaching means.
Each controlling member has its end terminal portions bent upon themselves and secured to; gether to form loops l1, IS. The bends, i3 in said controlling members are flush with the apices 9, l and extend laterallytherefrom.
- With reference to Figures 1 and 2 the garment includes a suspension formed of a pair of re silient lengthwise adjustable straps i3, 23. The
strap i9 carries at its ends a pair of coupling members 2|, 22 of yoke-shaped form. The member 2! is capable of extending through and coacting with the top wall of loop. ll for detachably-connectingstrap19 with the part I. The
member 22 is capable of extending through and coacting with the top wall of loop I for detachably connecting strap l9 with the back 5. The strap carries at its ends. a pair of coupling members 23, '24 of yoke-shaped form. The member 23 iscapable of extending through and coacting with the top wallof loop IS. for detachably connecting strap 20 with the part 8.. The
member 24 iscapable of extending through and coacting with the top wall of loop .16 for detachably connecting strap 20 with the back ii.v
The members 2|, 23 are oppositely disposed with respect to each other. The members 22, 2 are also 1 oppositely disposed with respect to each other.
