different ways.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a brassiere constructed in a novel manner so as to permit the busts to be accentuated in any particular position suited to the needs of the wearer.
A still further object of the invention is to pro-' vide a pair of floating bust pouches resiliently attached to the brassiere at several points and capable of being adjusted with relationto the brassire. a
With the above and other objects in view, as
will be presently apparent, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawing like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:
Figure l is a front view of the garment.
Figure 2 is an inside view thereof.
Figure 3 is a view of the bust pouches detached from the brassire.
Figure 4 is a section on line bof Figure 1.
Figure 5 is a section on line 5-5 of Figure 3.
Figure 6 is an enlarged detail View of an upper portion of the brassiere.
Figure '7 is a detail of the shoulder straps.
Referring to the drawing in detail, numeral l designates the brassiere, 2 the pouch construction and 3 the resilient tapes for attaching the bottom of the pouch construction to the lower edge of the brassire. The brassire comprises a belt portion =3 which fits around the chest of the Attached to one end thereof is a short points H and 12 will bulge outwardly to accom modate the curvature of the busts.
The pouch construction 2 includes two pockets l3 and it for accommodating the busts. Both pockets are formed alike and with the meeting ends overlapping and fastened together atthe points IS. The upper edges l6 and ll of the pockets are cut on a curve. The curvature of the edges H are on a larger radius than the curvature of the edges [6 and are arranged on a lower level than the edges 16. As best seen in Figure 3 a resilient strap It connects the upper ends of the pockets together. Permanently attached to the upper points l9 and 20 of the pockets are non-stretchable ribbons 2|. These ribbons pass through loops 22 fastened to theends of the straps 23 sewed at the opposite end at .24 to the highest points-25 of the belt portion. Shoulder straps 26 conn'ect'the straps 23 to the rear of the said belt portion. Adjusting elements 21 are provided to lengthen or shorten the shoulder straps to suit the needs of the wearer. A short end portion 28 of the shoulder straps are made of rubber material in order to provide resiliency to the said straps.
As will'be seen from Figure 2 the height of the pockets l3 and It can be adjusted relative to the position of the belt by lengthening or shortening the shoulder straps. As the belt fits. stationary on the body of the wearer any tension or slackening of the shoulder straps will only effect the pouch portion or pockets. Thus if a woman is disfigured with drooping busts this deformity can be corrected by tensioning the shoulder straps so that the pockets will be pulled up. Likewise a substantial amount of side movement in addition to the up and down movement of the pockets can be had by slipping the end 29 of the strap 23 either to the left or right. For example if the end 29 of the strap is moved to the extreme left the pocket l3 willmove in the same direction and vice versa if the strap is moved to the extreme right the pocket will move in that direction. It will therefore be seen that in adtion to providing means to move the breasts in a vertical position means are also provided to move them in a lateral position.
There has thus been provided a simple and efficient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.
It is obvious that changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without departing from the principles involved therein. It is not, therefore, desired to confine the inven- 'tion to the exact form herein shown and deto resiliently connect the bottom 0! said pouch portion to said belt portion and means to adiust the position of said pouch portion in relation to said belt portion.
, 2. In agarment oi the class described, a belt adapted to fit aroimd the chest of the wearer and provided with a pair of inserts shaped to fit the contour of the bust, a pair of pockets behind said inserts, each of said pockets including two wall members, the upper edges of said wall members left open and cut on a curve, the edge of o the wall members adjacent saidinserts arranged on a higher elevation than the other wall members, resilient straps for connecting the lower edges of said pockets to said belt, and shoulder straps for supporting said belt and said pockets.
4. In a garment of the class described. a pouch portion, said pouch portion including two pockets, each t said pockets including two wall members left open at the top, the top edges of one of said wall members arranged on a higher elevation than the edges of the other wall members, a resilient strap member for connecting the top of said pockets together, the lower portions of said pockets overlying each other and joined together.
5. In a garment oi the class described, a pouch portion, said pouch portion including two pockets, each of said pockets including two well members left open at the top, the upper edges of both of said wall members out substantially on the same curvature, the edge of one of the wall members arranged on a higher elevation than V PATRICK J. MORAN.
