Description

Patented Aug. 3, 1937 ATEN'E HEKTOGRAIH DEVICE Bertha Herrmann, Minneapolis, Minn.
Application September 6 Clai ms.
My invention relates to hektograph devices and more particularly to devices of this kind in which sheet material is coated with a fi1m of hektograph composition. An object of the invention is to provide sheet material having distinct advantages over such material as paper and. cloth. I have discovered that sheet rubber like maten'a1 possesses the following advantages for use as a base upon which to spread the hektograph composition: it is moisture proof even after comsiderable wrinkling er creasing; it has great tearresistance; it has toughness combined with some give without undue elasticity; it has heat sealing qualities so that a moderate amount of heat with pressure makes possible an effective a.ir tight seal at the edges. As an example, P110- film may be used. Another object is to pr0vide a hektograph device consisting of sheet material of very considerable length which may be readily rolled up and from which pieces may from time to time be cut as needed for use.
The novel features which I believe to be characteristic of my invention are set forth with particularity in the appended c1aims. The invention itself, however, both as to its organization and method of operation, together with additional objects and. advantages thereof will be best understood from the following description of specific embodiments when read in connection with the accompanying drawing in Which,-
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of one form of my invention showing the sheet partly unrolled.
Fig. 2 is a, perspective view of this form. showing the sheet entirely rolled up and. sealed from the air.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view similar to Fig. 2 but showing a difierent manner o-f sealing from the air.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of another form of 40 the invention.
Referring first particularly to Fig. 1, the numeral H) designates a long sheet of rubber like y material Which is coated with a film I2 of hektograph composition. This figure shows the sheet in the form 01 a roll I4 from which a, small section has been unrolled for immediate use and Which may or may not be cut oif. For convenience the roll I4 may be rolled up on a suitable core or rod lt. Fig. 2 shows the sheet materia1 completely rolled up and also strips I8 of the rubber like material applied at the ends of the roll to make a good moisture and air seal. Fig. 3 shows an alternative construction in which the hektograph roll is covered with a small piece 20 of the rubber like material to which the hekto- 8, 1936, Serial N0. 99,787
graph composition has not been applied. Fig. 4
shows a modified form in which a comparatively short piece 22 of the rubber like material' i3 coated with a. fi1m 2A of hektograph composition. T0 protect the hektograph sheet from the action of air and moisture, a protective sheet 26 is applied to the hektograph surface. The sheet 26 may consist of the rubber like material without the coating of hektograph composition.
The operation and advantages of my invention Will be readily understood in connection with the foregoing description and the accompanying drawing. By placing a long sheet of the rubber like material coated with hektograph composition in the form of a roll, the hektograph device 1's in such form that it may be conveniently used for a considerable period of time. A suitable' piece for immediate use is cut from the outer part 0f the roll and. the rest of the roll is sealed up for future use. The pieces of hektograph material are used in a we1l known manner which it is not necessary to describe in detail. But the rubber like material has distinct advantages because it 1s moisture proof has great tear-resistance, has toughness with some give without undue elasticity, and has heat sealing qualities so that a moderate amount of heat With pressure provides a good mo'isture and air seal.
Although I have shown and described specific embodiments of my invention, I am fully aware that other embodiments are possible. My invention, therefore, is not to be restricted except insofar as is necessitated by the prior art and by the spirit of the following claims.
I claim:
1. A hektograph device comprising a sheet of rubber like material which 1's moisture proof even after considerable vvrinkling and creasing, Which has great tear-resistance, which has toughness combined with some give without undue elasticity, and which has heat sealing qualtities so that a moderate amount of heatwith pressure makes possible an efiective air tight seal at the edges, and a film of hektograph composition on the surfa ce of said sheet.
2. A hektograph device comprising a long rolled up sheet of rubber like material which is moisture proof even after considerable wrinkling and creasing, which has great tear-resistance, which has toughness combined with some give without undue elasticity, and which has heat sealing qualities so that a moderate amount of heat with pressure makes possible an effective a1'r tight seal at the edges, and a fi1m of hektograph composition on the surface of said sheet.
3. A hektograph device comprising a sheet of rubber 1ike maberial which is moisture proof even after consid9rable wrinkling and creasing which has great tear-resistance, which has toughness combined with some give without undue elasticity, and which has heat sealing qualities so that -a moderate amount of heat with pressure makes possible an efieotive air tight sea1 at ehe edges, a. fi1m of hektograph composition 011 the surface of said sheet, and an air and. moisture proof protective covering therefor.
4. A hektograph device comprising a, long rolled up sheet of rubber like material Which is moisture proof even afor considerable wrinkling and Creasing, which has great bear-resistancm which has toughness combined with some give without undue elasticity, and which has heat' sealing qualities so that a moderate amount of heat with p-ressure makes possible an effective air tight seal at the edges, a film of hektograph composition on the surface of seid sheet, and an air and. moisture proof protective covering thereim.
. ing qualities so that 5. A hektograph device comprising a 1ong rolled up sheet of rubber like material which is moisture proof even after considerable wrinkling and. creasing, which has great tear resistance, which has toughness combined with some give without undue elasticity, am]. which has heat sea1- a moderate amount of hea.t With pressure makes possible an effective air tight seal at the edges, a film of hektograph compusitpion on the surface of said sheet, and strips of sealing material for the ed.ges of the roll.
6. A hektograph device comprising a sheet of rubber like material which is moisture proof even after considerable wrinkling and creasing, which has great tear-resistance, which has toughness combined with some give without undue elasticity, anal whioh has heat sealing qualities so that a moderate amount of heat with pressure makes possible an effective air tight sea1 ab the edges, a film of hektograph composition on the surfaceof said sheet, and a protective covering therefor of thesame material as said sheet.
