`This invention Vrelatesvto facial appliances. 1 The general object of the invention is to provide an improved facial apparatus which produces a face lift as soon as applied.

A more specific object of the invention is to provide a facial apparatus including novel members adhesively connected to the face of the wearer and connected together so that there will bea liftingrof the flesh. E

Another object Vof the invention is to provide a facial apparatus including connected tabs which are adapted to engagethe wearer in front of and behind the ear. Y

Fig. 9is a section taken on line 9-9 of Fig. 7. Referring to the drawing by reference characters I have shown my appliance as embodied in a device which is indicated generally at IIJ. As shown this device comprises a pair of tab members II` which are connected by a ribbon I2 which may be made of silk and which includes an adjusting buckle I3. I v

The tabs are similar except that they are rights and lefts and a description of one will suffice for both.

As shown each tab comprises a layer of exible #material such as cloth I4 the faces I5 and I 6 of which are each covered with an adhesive. The adhesive on the face I5 is of such a material that it will not dry out and will not injure the skin of the wearer. On this face I5 I arrange a removable sheet I6 of transparent regenerated cellulose such as cellophane.

Each tab comprises a body I1 which is adapted to be disposed just in front of the ear of the wearer and an extension I8 which is elongated (Cl. 12S-76) and curved andwhich is adapted to iit behind the ear of the wearer. The parts Il and I8 have a plurality of apertures I9 at their juncture by means of which the parts may be torn apart or cut apart in case the part I8 is not to be used, which frequently occurs, depending on th facial contours to be produced.

The regenerated cellulose covering It extends over the extension I8 as well as the tab I'I. On the face I6 of the tab portion Il I arrange, during the process olf manufacture, a plurality of wires 2li which have paper strips 20 wrapped thereabo-ut as shown in Fig. 5. These wires Awith the paper strips form tunnels 2I which are laid upon the tab in the desired relation, here shown as parallel, and then a fabric cover 22 is placed over the fabric layer I4. This cover 20 extends onto the extension- I8 as well as` the tab Il and the adhesive on` the face I6 unites the layers la and 22 and also holds the paper wrapped wires 20 in place. As soonas the parts are made thev wires 20 are withdrawn leaving the paper in place to provide the tunnels 2|.

Between the layers I4 and22 I secure the end 23 of a ribbon 24. This ribbpn has a loop 25 which is inserted iny one slot of the buckle 26, While the ribbon I2 is inserted' in the other slot of the buckle 26. I preferably provide adhesive at 21 on the inner ribbon end 23 to hold this end in position.

In use the regenerated cellulose coverings I6 are removed and the tabs I1 with the extensions I8 are adjusted in front of and behind each ear of the wearer. The tabs extend down to approximately the middle portion of the ear in front, and rearwardly the extensions extend to the bottom of the ear. 'I'he buckle I3 is then adjusted and the ribbon I2 run through the hair across the top of the head, the tension in the ribbon causing an upward urging or lifting of the tabs so that the flesh to which the tabs is attached is also urged upwardly or lifted.

With some persons the extensions I8 may be omitted and in this case the tabs are separated along the perforations I9 by tearing or cutting. It will be understood, of course, that the tabs Amay be initially made without the extensions I8.

After the tabs have been placed and the buckle adjusted the hair is arranged over the tabs and hairpins 28 are inserted through the tunnels 23 so that the tabs will be entirely hidden from an observer. It will be understood that the interior diameter of the tunnels 23 is approximately the same as that from which the hairpins are made Cil so that the hairpins will be firmly held in place in the tunnels.

In Figs. 6 and 7 I have shown a modication of my invention wherein the tab 30 comprises a plurality of layers 3l and 32 and wherein the edges are provided with stitches 33 to hold the parts assembled. A transparent layer of material 34 is disposed over the adhesive material on the outer surface of the layer 3l and a ribbon 35 is secured by the stitches 33. 'I'he ribbon 35 may be attached to a loop as previously described. Tunnels 35 similar to the tunnels 2| are shown as disposed between the layers 3l and 32.

In Figs. 8 and 9 I have shown a modication of my invention wherein layers 36 and 31 are connected by adhesive 38 and wherein adhesive 39 holds a removable, transparent layer 40 in place. Between the layers 36 and 31 I arrange a wire 4I which includes an end 42, a loop 43, and an intermediate portion 44 which passes diagonally across a corner of the tab and projects therefrom as at 45, whence the extreme end 46 is bent to position upon the outer face of the tab so that the end 46 may be engaged by a hairpin. In addition to the wire 4I I may employ tunnels 41 similar to the tunnels 2| which are shown between the layers 36 and 31. These tunnels extend only part Way across the tab.

It will be understood that the manner of using the device shown in Figs. 6 to 9, inclusive, is the same as that set forth in the preceding description.

From the foregoing description it will be apparent that I have provided a novel facial appliance which can be economically manufactured and readily applied and which does not interfere with the comfort of the wearer, although it does greatly improve the appearance of the wearer.

Having thus described my invention I claim:

1. In a facial apparatus, a plurality of tabs,

flexible means connecting said tabs, each of said tabs comprising a layer of fabric having an adhesive on one face thereof, each of said tabs including a body portion, a plurality of hollow open ended rolls arranged on the other face of said tab, and a covering on said other face of the tab and engaging the tab and the rolls.

2. In a facial apparatus, a plurality of tabs, flexible means connecting said tabs, each of said tabs comprising a central layer of fabric having an adhesive on one face thereof, each of said tabs including a body portion having an elongated extension thereon, a plurality of hollow paper rolls arranged on the other face of said tab, a covering on said other face of the tab and engaging the tab and the rolls.

3. In a facial apparatus, a plurality of tabs, flexible means connecting said tabs, each of said tabs comprising a central layer of fabric having an adhesive on each face thereof, each of said tabs including a body portion having an elongated, curved extension thereon, there being a plurality of perforations at the juncture of said tab and its extension, a plurality of hollow paper rolls arranged on one face of said tab, a covering on said one face of the tab and engaging the tab and the rolls, and a removable transparent covering on the other face of the tab.

4. In a facial apparatus, a pair of tabs, each of said tabs comprisingtwo layers of cloth, means connecting said tabs, said tabs having tunnels extending therethrough from one edge to the other and adapted to receive a hairpin, said tabs including a curved portion extending below the lower end of the tab, said tab having adhesive coating thereon, said tab being adapted to be disposed in front of the ear of the wearer and said extension being adapted to be disposed in the rear of the ear of the wearer.
