Application September 11, 1935, Serial No. 46,158
3 Claims.
My invention relates to a desk pad clip, and it consists in the constructions, arrangements and combinations herein described and claimed.
It is a purpose of my invention to provide a clip which may be readily associated with a desk pad for holding the pad against shifting movement relative to the forward edge of a desk top, thereby maintaining the pad in orderly fashion upon the desk.
It is also an object of the invention to provide a clip which may be stamped and formed in a single machine operation, permitting the clip to be sold at an extremely low cost.
Additional objects, advantages and features of 5 invention will be apparent from the following description considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure l is a perspective view illustrating my clip in use.
Figure 2 is a cross section on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the clip.
Figure 4 is a perspective view thereof.
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, I have shown 25 generally, a desk top ID upon which a pad H is supported, the pad being of the well known construction in which the blotter I2 is confined to the pad by corner pockets l3. These pockets l3 have their open edges disposed toward the medial portion of the pad, and when in use, two of the pockets will be positioned so as to lie flush with the forward edge of the desk, as may be seen in Figure 1, and it is in such position that it is desired that the pad should be maintained, and which I accomplish by use of a pair of clip members M.
The clip members M are identical in construction, and therefore a description of one will be sufiicient for full understanding thereof. Attention is particularly invited to Figures 3 and 4 wherein the clip is shown as formed from a rectangular blank of sheet material, such as aluminum, although any material having the necessary rigidity may be employed. The blank comprises a head l5, of a length less than one-half of the length of the blank, the blank being longitudinally slotted as at It, thereby defining a pair of leg members II. The head I5 is bent through its medial portion as indicated at l8, the bend occurring in a line coincident with the slot I6. Thus, the leg members l'l will be disposed at right angles to each other, as may be clearly seen in Figure 4.
In use, the desk pad H is positioned upon the desk so that one edge thereof lies flush with the edge of the desk which will, of course, position a pair of pockets l3 adjacent the edge of the desk. One of the clips I4 is employed in conjunction with each pocket, and is applied therein by inserting one of the legs IT in the pocket, which will be permitted by the slot [6, the other leg resting flush upon the fiat edge of the desk top. With a clip so engaged with each pocket, it will be apparent that the pad II will be retained against movement away from the edge of the desk and. will be maintained in orderly fashion upon the desk top.
While I have shown and described a preferred construction, I am aware that changes in structure may be made, and I therefore consider as my own all such modifications as fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. In combination, a pad having a pair of pockets positioned adjacent one edge thereof, a clip member for each pocket, said clip members having a pair of leg members arranged at right angles to each other, one of said legs being disposed within respective pockets, and the other of said leg members being disposed flush against an edge of a desk.
2. A desk pad clip comprising a body member having a pair of leg members, one of said leg members being adapted to engage a pad to be retained upon a desk top, and the other of said leg members engaging an edge of a desk.
3. A desk pad clip comprising a body member having a slot longitudinally thereof defining a pair of leg members, said body member being bent in a plane coincident with the slot whereby to position said leg members at right angles to each other.
ALBERT F. RIPPEL.
