The present invention relates .to garments of the combined corset and brassiere type in which an inner abdominal supporting belt is employed.

Combination corset and brassiere garments of the corselette type are employed where only a limited amount of correction and support is required, being limited to the positioning of the breast, diminishing or reducing the diaphragm and abdomen and the keeping of the hips and waist in proper form. The usual function of this type of garment is to retain the figure in-a firm state and to present a smooth foundation that will not mar the contour of the outer garment. When physical condition necessitates the 1;; employment of surgical supports, considerable difiiculty arises when such supports are employed in combination with corselette garments.

Thus it becomes the primary object of my invention to associate a corselette and abdominal support together in a unitary garment in a manner which obviates any restriction being placed upon the desired functions of each acting independently. Moreover, the resulting garment is provided with a single adjustment for both the corselette and the inner abdominal support which is accomplished without sacrifice of the desired positive supporting of the inner construction and the relative yieldability and freedom of movement characteristic of the outer construction.

Other objects and advantages will become apparent as the description progresses. It is to be understood that I intend to include as part of my invention all such changes and modifications as would be readily apparent to those skilled in the art and fall within the scope of the appended claims and that I do not desire tobe limited to the details herein set forth.

In the accompanying drawing an elevational view of my improved garment is shown in an extended condition as viewed from the inner side.

Generally considered my improved garment comprising an outer corselette portion which is distinguishable from prior constructions in that the intermediate and lower rear portions have been provided with adjustably laced sections. Elastic sections are provided at the sides of the garment, preferably coextensive with the rear laced sections. Forward of the elastic side sections is arranged an inner belt construction. Ad- 50 ditional elastic sections are incorporated in the belt construction adjacent the point .of attachment to the outer garment portion. The inner belt construction is coextensive with the overlying part of the front portion of the outer gar- 6i ment with the result that-boththe outer garment and the inner belt are adjusted simultaneously through the single laced adjustment in the rear of the other garment. To assure simultaneous and proportional adjustment of both the inner and outer portions of the garment and to provide the necessary positive support which is essential in surgical supporters, each of the afore mentioned elastic sections is bridged by nonelastic sections. These noneelastic sections are preferably located centrally of its elastic section 10 and are aligned with the take-up force applied to the garment by the adjustment of the laced portions. Such construction results in providing the necessary release through the upper and lower portions of the corselette outer garment 15 yet accomplishes a positive supporting by the inner belt and assures a positive simultaneous adjustment of both outer and inner garment portions. It is the latter feature which results in a smooth corselette in all adjustment of the inner belt.

Having reference to the drawing, a combination garment is shown having a front covering portion l with a brassire portion 2. The rear 3 of the garment comprising sections 45 connected by a continued inelastic section 6 at the top of the garment. Adjacent edges of the sections 45 are engaged by lacing 1 extending to buckles and strap arrangements 8 movable in opposite directions along the outer surface of O the garment to adjust the garment. Preferably the laced adjustment means employed is similar to that disclosed in the patent to Camp, No. 1,463,252. 'It is thus apparent that both the inner' and outer construction is under the regula tion of a single adjustment and that the front covering portion i will always extendsmoothly over the belt [4 in all its adjustments.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to cover by Letters Patent is: r

1. A combination garment of the class described including an outer covering portion comprising front, side and rear members, said members being inelastic and presenting a continuous inelastic region at the upper part of the garment, said front member being attached to one side member at one edge and detachably secured to the other side member at the other edge, an adjustable laced region extending through the central and lower parts of said rear member, elastic sections inserted in said side members extending through the central and lower parts thereof; a separable inner abdominal supporting belt having its ends anchored to said outer portion forward of said elastic sections, additional elastic sections in said belt adjacent the point of anchorage of each end, inelastic sections centrally bridging the elastic sections in said side member and belt, said front member in position overlying said belt, and strap and buckle means movable in opposite directions tending through the central and lower part of said side sections, an inner abdominal supporting belt having its ends anchored to said outer portion forward of said elastic sections, additional elastic, sections in said belt adjacent the point of anchorage of each end, inelastic sections centrally bridging the elastic sections in said side -member and belt, said front member in position overlying said belt, and strap and buckle means movable in opposite directions along the outer surface of the rear member coacting with said lacing to simultaneously adjust said outer covering portion and inner belt.

3. .A combination garment of the class described comprising an outer covering portion consisting of a separable front member and a rear member joined by side members, an adjustable laced region located in said rear member, elastic sections inserted in said members, and extending through the central and lower part thereof, a separable inner supporting belt anchored at its ends to the outer portion, additional elastic sections inserted in said belt adjacent the point of anchorage of each end, inelastic sectionscentrally bridging each of said elastic sections, and means coacting with said laced region for simultaneously imparting a positive take-up force to the outer covering portion and the inner belt through said inelastic sections.

A combination garment of the class described comprising an outer covering portion consisting of a separable front member and a rear member joined by side members, an adjustable laced region located in said rear member, a separable inner supporting belt anchored at its ends forward of said laced region to the outer portion, regulable means coacting with said laced region to impart a take-up force centrally of the garment, inelastic sections for transmitting said force to the central part of said outerv portion and belt to effect a positive and simultaneous adjustment of the same, and elastic sections located in said outer portion for providing the necessary release above and below said inelastic sections. 7 r

A combination garment of the class described comprising an outer covering portion consisting of a separable front member and a rear member joined by side members, an adjustable laced region extending through the central and lower part of said rear member, a separable inner supporting belt anchored at its ends forward of said laced region to the outer portion, regulable means coacting withsaid laced region to impart a take-up force to the garment, elastic sections located in said outer garment extending through the central and lower parts thereof, and inelastic sections bridging said elastic sections for transmitting said force to the central part of said outer portion and belt to'effect a positive and simultaneous adjustment of the same.

6. A combination garment of the class described comprising a separable outer covering portion, a separable inner supporting belt fixedly secured at'its ends to said covering portion,

an adjustable laced region for taking up said covering portion and belt, regulable means coacting with said laced region to impart a takeup force to the garment, said outer covering por- 5 tion including elastic sections for providing the necessary release in the upper and lower part of the garment, and inelastic sections for transmitting said force to the belt and the overlying part of the outer portion to effect a positive and simultaneous adjustment of the same.

A garment of the character described comprising front and rear members joined by side members, the upper portion of said member defining a continuous inelastic brassiere section, spaced laced edges extending through the central and lower portions oi. said rear member, said upper continuous ibrassire section being characterized by the fact that it includes an inelastic gusset above said spaced laced edges and an elastic member for gathering in said gusset only at the lower edge thereof directly adjacent said laced edges, the major portion of said gusset being free from the action of said elastic member whereby said brassiere section is likewise uneffected.
