1 Claim.

My invention relates to an index calendar wherein the calendar pad is made up of a series of index sheets and the portion of the calendar which indicates the respective dates is exposed in a series of superirnposed or overlapping sheets while the memorandum portion is ordinarily concealed.

It is a feature to provide a calendar wherein a back-supporting member is formed with an overlapping front flap which covers the top sheet of the index calendar pad. This top sheet may carry a decorative illustration on the iront of the same and is adapted to show indicia to indicate the particular month on the lower free edge of the cover flap together with the year and the days of the week.

A further object of the calendar is to provide a simple, inexpensive reference or index calendar wherein each week appears on the free edge of separate index sheets, the spaces for the numerals designating the days in the week having a. dened space in which a check or mark can be made to make reference to a particular day. Each of the index sheets which represents one or more weeks stands beneath the cover sheet of the calendar and is formed with memorandum spaces which are prefixed by indicia which shows the particular 'day and the numeral which indicates the day of the month, thus providing a memorandum space after the number of each day so that by making a check at any of the days in the week in the spaces provided and then lifting the cover flap and using the index linger to raise the index sheets to the proper place on the memorandum sheets, a memorandum may be made or referred to quickly.

My calendar includes a back sheet and a series of index sheets which are formed by folding the index sheets onto each other in book-leaf form and permitting the free edges to unevenly overlap at their free edges so that the lower-most sheet, when the sheets are overlapped, will be the longest and the next super-imposed sheets will overlap less for each .sheet so that when all of the sheets are bound together and held to a backing member which isv formed with a co-ver sheet, only the lower free edge of each sheet is visible and on these free edges the days of the week are designated so that each sheet designates one week or more of the month.

These features and other details will clearly designate the advantages and novel construction of my calendar.

Figure 1 illustrates a front view of my calendar as it would appear in use Where each index sheet represents a week or two.

Figure 2 illustrates another View of the calendar with the cover and form of the index sheets 5V raised and partly broken away.

Figure 3 illustrates an enlarged edge View of my calendar.

Figure 4 illustrates another form of my calendar where each index sheet represents an entire 10 month of the year.

The calendar A is provided with a back sheet I Il which is adapted to form a support for a series of index sheets II.

The back portion I0 has an integral overlap- 15 ping front ap I2 which is adapted to cover the upper or memorandum portion of the sheets II so as to conceal the same normally when the calendar A hangs on the wall. The cover sheet I2 is provided with a decorative space I3 which may 20 be covered by a picture or any other suitable decorative means so as to make the calendar more attractive, if it is desired. The lower end of the back sheet I0 is formed with a space I4 which extends below the free overlapping edges of the 25 index sheets II and this space may be used for advertising or any other designation or indicia as may be suitable and useful in connection with the calendar A. The sheets II may be of the same length. However, they are shifted in a 30 manner so that their end edges are marginally spaced and then are bound together at a common point I5 by means of the staple I6 or other suitable means securing the sheets to the back I0 so that when the cover sheet I2 folds down 35 over the sheets which are folded on each other, the lower free edges of each of the sheets will be spaced apart to form marginal spaces I'I and each of these spaces may indicate a particular week of the month. Suitable indicia or numerals 40 i8 may be placed in the spaces marked off in the marginal exposed .edges of the sheets II to indicate each day and the number of the day for the month. Thus, when the calendar A is hung upon 45 the wall by means of the opening I9 or any other suitable means for supporting the calendar on the wall, all of the weeks of the month will be indicated on the index sheets. The marginal spaces on the free edges of the sheets II act as 50 an index for the respective sheets. The spaces for each numeral in the marginal portion I1 are provided with a dened space 20 in which a check mark such as 2| may be indicated as illustrated in Figure 2 on the 16th day of September. This 55 check mark is -for the-purpose of making a memorandum which may be referred to.

Where the calendar A is in the form illustrated in Figures l and 2, each sheet I I indicates a week ordinarily while one of the sheets such as the Y lower sheet II' may have two weeks indicated on the marginal space Il. Further, eachof rthe sheets carries the indicia 22 to indicate the month just as the lower marginal edge of the cover sheet I2 indicates the same. The cover sheet I2 also indicates the particular day such as Sunday, Monday, etc., of the week on the extreme lower edge so as to indicate the particular day ofthe week directly below the same on the exposed marginal surface of each sheet II.

In this form of index calendar A, the large memorandum space is provided for each week beneath the cover sheet I2. Further the user of the calendar may ordinarily refer to the particular memorandum by directing the index finger to raise the cover sheet I2 or any of the respective sheets Il to quickly refer to the date where a memorandum has been made, 'such as is illustrated in Figure 2. In this form, the calendar A provides utility for the user so as to make ready reference to memorandum which the user wishes to be reminded of and yet having the memorandum con-V cealed from 4the ordinary observer.

In the form of the calendar A illustrated in Figure 4, each sheet' II may indicatean'entire month on the marginal index surfaces I7' and the calendar may be made of a large size. Figure 4 illustrates the calendar in a reduced form. The same principles are carried out in the construction of the calendar in Figure 4 by reason of the fact that the marginal index surfaces I'I illustrate the fine spaces which carry the numerals such as I8 to indicate the number of the day just asis usually shown on a calendar, as well as the particular day ofthe week. Each sheet then indicates a particular month and the memorandum portions of the respective sheets are concealed below the top cover portion I2 and then the respective under sheets below the uppermost sheet Il are covered by the following sheets which overlap in step for- Tnation so that each sheet has an exposed lower free edge for the particular month. The month may be divided so that the thirty or thirty-one spaces are shown in two lines rather than a single line similar to the sheet II of Figure l which Y indicates-two weeks instead of one week. Thus in the Yform of the calendar of Figure 4, each sheet would indicate one month and the month would be indicated in two lines of numerals and spaces marked off for the respective dates.

lVIy calendar is of a very desirable nature as a reference Vand memorandum or reminder. It is a feature to provide a calendar with utility other than just a reference to the particular day of the month or year, and in virtually all walks of life such a calendar having the advantage of providing a quick reference to any particular memorandum for a particular day is very desirable.

VI claim:

An index calendar including, a series of sheets, means connecting said sheets superimposed one upony another to form a lower edge extending in overlapping step formation, a cover flap concealing all but the lower marginal edge of the uppermost sheet, indicia for dividing the lower edge of said cover flap to designate the days of the week, and numerical indicia on the lower marginal edges of said sheets in vertical rows beneath said cover indicia designating the dates of the month, the numerals of each row co-operating with the divisions on said cover sheet to indicate the date of each week day.
