This invention relates to a combination calendar and memorandum and one object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which may be hung upon a wall and serve very efi'ectively as a calendar as well as a file in which memoranda may be kept.
Another object of the invention is to so form the device that it may be suspended o from a wall or other support in an opened condition or closed and placed in a drawer or upon a desk until reference thereto is necessary.
Another object of the invention is to provide the device with a binder which will be very strong and serviceable and at the same time allow the device to be easily opened or closed.
Another object of the invention is to pro- '20 vide a device of this character having a partition separating calendar sheets from the portion serving as a memorandum and thereby permit access to be easily had to the desired portion thereof.
The invent-ion is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein:
Figure l is a perspective view of one embodiment of the invention;
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken along the line 2-2 of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a front elevation showing the device as it appears when suspended upon a wall;
Figure 4 is a view showing a modified form 35 of the invention in its suspended position;
Figure 5 is a sectional view through the modified form when closed;
Figure 6 is a View of the rear face of one of the calendar sheets shown in Figure 4, and
backing or hinder indicated in general by the numeral 1 may be formed of cardboard or any other material of sufficient stiffness to form a strong binder but sufficiently flexible to permit the sheet of material to be bent intermediate its length and form front and 5Q rear backings 2 and 3 united by a connecting portion 4. A sheet of material similar to that from which the binder is formed is attached to the inner face of the rear backing 3 adj acent the connecting portion 1, as shown in Figures 1 and 2 or against the inner face of the front backing 2 adjacent the connecting portion. This sheet is of suflicient length to extend partially across the connecting portion and be then folded to form a partition 5 dividing the binder into front and rear sections which may be referred to as upper and lower sections if so desired. The calendar 6 consists of a pad or stack of sheets corresponding in number of months in a year or any determined period of time and each sheet has its front face printed to show the days of a month. It will be, of course, understood that the months are arranged in their proper sequence so that as each sheet is torn from the 7Q pad the following month will appear. This pad is secured against the inner face of the front backings in the form of the invention illustrated in Figures 1 through 3 and in the form illustrated in Figures 4 through 8, the pad is secured against the outer face of the partition 5. In each case the calendar will be exposed upon the lower portion of the device when it is suspended from a nail or equivalent support driven into a wall. The susgo pending cord 7 shown in Figures 1 and 2 is threaded through openings 8 and 9 formed in the rear backing 3 and partition 5 so that the partition will be supported'in a raised position to expose the calendar and. a picture 3;; 10 may be pasted upon the partition as a decoration, if desired. In Figures 41 and 5 the suspending cord 11 is shorter than the cord 7 and is only. engaged through openings in the rear backing and in this form of the so.
invention the picture 12 is pasted against the inner or front face of the rear backing as the partition carrying the calendar hangs downwardly from the upper portion of the front backing when the device is in use as shown in Figure 4. The memorandum portion of the device, if constructed as shown in Figures 1 and 2, consists of a stack of stifi sheets 13 corresponding in number to months of a year and these sheets have their upper edge portions stepped and marked with names of the months as shown in Figure 1. These sheets may be blank and intended to have memorandum slips inserted between them or may be ruled so that entries may be written upon them. In the form illustrated in Figures 4 through 7 the memorandum portion let consists of a number of sheets 15 which are folded upon themselves as shown in Figure 5 and these folded sheets have their folded portions held together in any desired manner and the stack of sheets are secured against the folded portion of the partition or the portion thereof attached to the front backing.
The front face of each sheet is marked to receive telephone numbers and names as shown in Figure and the rear face of each sheet may be ruled as shown in Figure 7 so that items to be remembered may be written thereon. The rear face of each calendar sheet may be ruled as shown in Figure 6 in order that a record of expenses may be kept from month to month.
While I have shown the preferred embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that minor changes in the size shape and arrangement of parts may he resorted to with out departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described the invention what is claimed is: V
1. A combined calendar and memorandum comprising a binder consisting of front and rear backings and a portion uniting the same formed of flexible material whereby the front a backing may be swung upwardly from a depending opened position to a closed position, a partition sheet secured against the inner face of one backing and adapted to be folded with the backings when the binder is closed, sheets in the binder divided into groups by the partition, the sheets of one group constituting calendar sheets, and a flexible member engaged through openings formed in the partition and rear backing and constituting means to hold the partition in a raised position and suspend the binder from a support.
2. A combination stationary device comprising a binder consisting of front and rear backings and a portion connecting the same and so associated therewith that the front backing may be swung upwardly from a depending opened position to a closed position in spaced relation to the rear backing, a
