  • the back support member 600 may include a plurality of roller axes 620 formed in the space between the bodies and includes a roller member 620 which is inserted and fitted to the roller axis and is rotatable.
  • the bodies and the gripping rod are connected to each other by U-shaped gripping rod connectors 210 and 211 , so that the user's head moves up and down through the U-shaped inner space.
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a chin-up exercise mechanism according to the embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 shows the chin-up exercise mechanism which has been folded.
  • FIG. 3 is a schematic side view showing a person who is doing a conventional chin-up exercise.
  • FIG. 4 is a view for a kinematic description of the embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIG. 5 is a picture of a prototype of the embodiment of the present invention.
  • FIGS. 6 to 9 are views for describing various exercise methods.
  • FIG. 3 shows briefly that a user is doing a chip-up exercise on a conventional horizontal bar.
  • the chin-up exercise when the user grasps and pulls the horizontal bar with his/her hands, the user's body rises vertically upward and the user's arms are severely folded, and simultaneously, user's face is pushed behind the horizontal bar so as to prevent the user's head from knocking on the horizontal bar.
  • the conventional chip-up exercise is very hard for a person who has insufficient arm muscular strength. This is a main cause that the conventional chip-up exercise cannot settle down as one of life sports.
  • the present invention has a feature of including a body 100 which is upwardly inclined from a side of a base member 150 supporting the whole structure and forms a predetermined angle with a horizontal surface, and a horizontal gripping rod 200 which is connected to the upper portion of the body and is grasped by user's hands.
  • the body should be formed in the form of a pipe.
  • the body may have a straight line shape, a curved line shape or a combination of the straight and curved lines.
  • a support 140 supporting the body is formed at the rear of the body 100 .
  • the support and body may be formed in one body.
  • the inclined body preferably includes two parallel pipes 100 and 101 .
  • a roller member 600 i.e., a member for supporting the user's back is formed in a space between the pipe-shaped bodies 100 and 101 . Since the roller freely rotates about a roller axis 620 , the roller is an appropriate means for allowing the user to easily move his/her body with his/her body leaning against the roller.
  • a plate-shaped member or any member having a low friction force can be used as the back support member.
  • a means for acupressure may be added to the surface of the roller member and a cushion means may be also formed on the roller member.
  • the user does the chip-up exercise by grasping the gripping rod 200 with his/her back leaning against the roller member, and then by pulling his/her body upward from the roller member through use of the strength of the user's arm.
  • the roller members 600 are inserted and fitted to a plurality of the roller axes 620 formed parallel with each other from the bottom to the top of the body.
  • the shape and size of the roller member can be variously applied.
  • roller member should be installed from about 50 cm to about 2.5 meters from the ground.
  • a very small roller member can be manufactured for infants and a position where the roller member is installed can be variously changed.
  • a foot plate 500 may be formed under the bottom roller member. The user can stand up on the foot plate. The foot plate is very useful for the user to do a stand up-sit down exercise as shown in FIG. 9 .
  • the foot plate should have a hinge structure on one side thereof such that the foot plate 500 is folded as shown in FIG. 2 from the state shown in FIG. 1 .
  • U-shaped gripping rod connectors 210 and 211 are formed on the top portion of the body 100 .
  • the straight line shaped gripping rod 200 is formed on the ends of the gripping rod connectors 210 and 211 and connects the ends of the gripping rod connectors 210 and 211 .
  • FIGS. 6 and 7 show a typical exercise method using the embodiment of the present invention.
  • the mechanism of the present invention has a feature that the gripping rod 200 is separated from the surface formed by the bodies 100 and 101 .
  • the rod of a general horizontal bar which corresponds to the gripping rod is directly connected to a horizontal bar pole.
  • the gripping rod which is grasped by hands is separated by an interval “E” ( FIG. 7 ) from the surface formed by the bodies 100 and 101 .
  • the user's head moves up and down through the interval “E” as shown in FIG. 7 when the user does the chip-up exercise. It is necessary that the interval “E” should be over 30 cm for adults and should be smaller than 30 cm for children and young people.
  • the present invention provides a new mechanism for strengthening the muscular strength of whole body by using the strength of arms rather than provides the “chin-up exercise mechanism”.
  • FIG. 4 is a view for a kinematic description of the embodiment of the present invention.
  • a force applied by pulling the gripping rod 200 with his/her hands is indicated by F shown in FIG. 7 .
  • a direction in which the user's body moves by the force F is indicated by a displacement vector D. While the direction of F is equal to the direction of D in a general chin-up exercise, the directions F and D form a predetermined angle in the present invention. Since the user leans against the roller member 600 , the mechanism of the embodiment of the present invention requires much less force than a force required for doing the chin-up exercise on the general horizontal bar.
  • a section A corresponds to the lower part of the user's body and is an area corresponding to the back side of the user's leg.
  • the section A is almost formed in the form of a straight line.
  • a section B is an area which the user's back mainly touches.
  • the section A and the section B meet each other in the vicinity of the waist of the user.
  • the lumbar vertebrae of the user can be supported well by the roller member.
  • the sections A and B are inclined as a whole and may have a straight line or a slight curvature.
  • FIG. 10 is a graph showing the above mentioned property. In other words, FIG. 10 shows that the strength applied to the arm is reduced with the increase of a distance between the horizontal surface and the center of gravity of the body.
  • FIG. 5 is a picture showing a prototype in which the support 140 is vertically formed and welded and fixed to the body.
  • a member which prevents the support from being pushed rearward by coupling the bodies 100 and 101 to a body connector 145 .
  • a ring member (not shown) which surrounds the support 140 and the roller axis 620 at a time and unites them may be included.
  • a joint 300 is also formed on the front of the base member 150 , so that the inclinations of the bodies 100 and 101 can be controlled.
  • the inclination can be appropriately selected by considering the muscular strength, height, weight of the user and the like.
  • FIG. 2 shows that after the mechanism of the present invention is used, the volume of the mechanism can be reduced by folding the mechanism.
  • metal, wood, plastic and other materials are used as the material constituting the mechanism of the present invention in appropriate response to the installation condition of the mechanism.
  • Exercises shown in FIGS. 8 and 9 strengthen the lower body of the user and more stimulate the user's back, so that the exercises are particularly useful to old people having weak physical strength.
  • FIG. 11 shows that a member has been formed to protrude upward on the body of the mechanism.
  • the user grasps the upward protruding member with his/her back leaning against the roller member, and then may do an exercise to move his/her body upward and downward by unfolding and folding his/her arms.
