Abstract

A hairdressing comb for use in highlighting services. Used as a weaving tool it will separate a number of thin hair sub-sections from a selected wide hair section. These thin hair sub-sections will be placed on a foil to be colored or lightened. This comb consists of regular comb-like teeth for combing hair, a pick located at side of spine of comb at an angle and extends length of comb. What is new in this comb is the placement of pick on the side of comb and a flat handle for easy maneuverability.

Description

    TECHNICAL FIELD
  • The present invention relates to a comb for selectively separating strands of hair for the purpose of coloring or highlighting the selected strands of hair; and for teasing and combing hair.
  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • The present invention is directed to a hair sectioning technique where some strands of hair will be separated or weaved. The small sections of hair weaved out will give a gentle highlight effect, with the use of hair color or a bleaching agent. This is called highlighting, tipping or low lighting. Traditionally, the comb used has a “rattail,” the point end of which is then used in a weaving manner to thread through sections of hair in order to separate it into alternating sections of hair strands, passing either over or under the “rattail,” The sections are separated using a sheet material such as metal foil, and the coloring agent applied to those sections on only one side of the foil which, is then folded.
  • The usual technique of separating the hair for highlighting with the “rattail” requires a flip movement that requires more time and expertise than when using my invention. [[b]]My invention has a weaving tool at side of the comb that eliminates the need to flip the comb, thereby making the flipping movement less stressful.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • To make the use of highlighting techniques more efficient and ergonomically effective, have created a tool that will improve the method of separating strands of hair. Hairdressers enjoy being creative, and this tool will help them be more creative for it will give them a weaving tool section on the side of comb spine instead, of a “rattail,” thus eliminating the need to flip the tool after combing the hair section.
  • Normally, hair that has been sectioned for highlighting needs to be combed first, then weaved. With the use of any “rattail comb,” after hair has been combed, a stylist needs to flip the comb in order to use “rattail” portion of comb and be able to weave sectioned hair.
  • With my new tool there is no need to flip the comb because, it has combing and weaving on same side of tool, and a flat handle with a concave center that enables maneuverability for a right or left handed person.
  • The combing section in combination with the weaving/sectioning of the tool will be great for hair teasing, backcombing, and styling.
  • DRAWINGS
  • The above and other features, aspects and, advantages of the present invention will become apparent, as will a better understanding of the concept underlying the present invention, by reference to the description which follows and, refers to the accompanying drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a side view of the comb;
  • FIG. 2 is opposite side of the comb; and
  • FIG. 3 is a top view of comb.
  • DESCRIPTION
  • As seen in FIG. 1, the present invention, comprises of a comb, the comb has a handle, a spine and a plurality of teeth, and a weaving stick lit the weaving stick attaches to the spine of the comb 14. The handle 13 attaches to the spine 14, the spine supports the teeth 12.
  • As seen in FIG. 2, an opposite side view of the highlighting comb 10 with the attached weaving stick 11 located at one of the sides of the spine 14. The weaving stick 11 extends over the spine 14 and diminishes in width towards the end of the weaving stick 11. The hair weaving stick is at an angle, with respect to the spine, the angle may be from about 0 to about 45 degrees from the spine of the comb.
  • As seen in FIG. 3, the comb is shown with the attached weaving stick, the weaving stick extends outward from the comb.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the handle is flat and defines a concave center, for easy handling, placed on one end of the comb.
