Abstract

The hair styling comb is operable to retain an elastic band for securing hair. The hair styling comb includes a body portion adapted to be grasped by a person's hand. The hair styling comb includes an elongated spine portion, integrated into the body. The hair styling comb includes a set of teeth, spaced apart, parallel to each other, and extending substantially perpendicular from the spine portion. The hair styling comb includes a cutout section positioned at the top portion of the spine comprising a slit configured to retain the elastic band. The cutout section and the associated slit allows a user to wrap the elastic band around their comb, to freely use the comb without the comb falling out of their hands and hitting the floor.

Description

    RELATED APPLICATIONS
  • The present application claims the benefit of Provisional Patent Application No. 62/742,924, filed Oct. 8, 2018, the entire application of which is hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety for all purposes.
  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to hair accessories for all types of hair types and textures. More specifically, the disclosure provides for a hair comb.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Hair design by hairdressers and other hair stylists involves a wide range of methods. One standard form is to apply a part to the hair, or section the hair in order to provide a securing mechanism or elastic band to the hair to hold the hair in place, while the stylist styles that portion of the hair. Generally, a stylist is tasked with using an assistant or must attempt to hold the hair in place, with a comb or other means in one hand, while securing the elastic band with the other hand. As such, there has been a long felt need for hair comb that allows a stylist or a user to more efficiently perform styles to hair, and provide multi-tasking capabilities. Often a hair stylist, depending on the complexity of the desired hairstyle of the client, is tasked with multi-tasking and performing multiple movements, twists, and turns of their comb, while securing the clients hair with bows, elastic bands, and other securing means to achieve the desired hair style.
  • There have been modifications to the traditional comb but these are not generally known. In recently published U.S. Pat. No. 5,694,953 there is disclosed a hairdressing comb having a series of spaced pairs of hair-lifting teeth with the teeth of each pair defining between them a gap into which hair can enter. Each hair-lifting tooth has a hair-lifting formation and the hair-lifting formations of each pair of teeth both extend into the corresponding gap. The hair-lifting formations of each pair of teeth are staggered with respect to one another in the longitudinal direction of the teeth, and the one hair-lifting formation extends into the gap to a point laterally beyond where the other hair lifting formation extend into the gap.
  • However the above-disclosed apparatuses do not overcome a general problem in the art to which the present invention is directed.
  • Accordingly, there remains in the art, a need for a hair comb that allows a stylist to multitask, combing hair, while providing a securing means or elastic band to a person's hair, to effectively secure the hair in place.
  • Hence, an improved hair comb would be advantageous, and in particular a hair comb with a means to multitask combing hair while providing a securing device would be advantageous.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Accordingly, it is an objective of the present invention to provide for any style hair comb, configured with a cutout section of the hair comb's spine that is operable to withhold an elastic object. The cutout section can be configured with a slit that allows for the elastic object to be retained, and fixed in place, until relocated on a section of a user's hair. The relocation of the elastic band allows the user to wrap the elastic band around the person's wrist, in order to use the comb, without losing operation of one's hands, reducing the ability to multitask, and to avoid slippage of the comb or the elastic band from the user's hands.

  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
  • The hair comb according to the invention will now be described in more detail with regard to the accompanying figures. The figures show one way of implementing the present invention and is not to be construed as being limiting to other possible embodiments falling within the scope of the attached claim set.
  • FIG. 1 depicts a perspective view of the hair comb with an elastic band attached around a user's wrist, in accordance with an example;
  • FIG. 2 depicts a full body perspective view of the hair comb with the elastic band attached, in accordance with an example;
  • FIG. 3 depicts a perspective view of alternative hair combs configured to withhold an elastic band, in accordance with an example;
  • FIG. 4 depicts a perspective view of additional alternative hair combs configured to withhold an elastic band, in accordance with an example.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
  • The present invention provides for a hair comb that can be of any style or shape, that is configured with a cutout section that is operable to withhold an elastic band to be placed around a section of a person's hair.
  • FIG. 1 is an illustrative representation showing the hair comb with the elastic band attached around a user's wrist in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. FIG. 1 depicts an example of what the invention looks like from a side perspective view. Accordingly, the cutout section 100, spans across the spine of the hair comb, otherwise known as the Pholic Band Comb. In alternative embodiments, the cutout section can be sized smaller or larger depending on the size of the comb, and the flexibility for use. In one instance, where the cutout section is smaller, the cutout section can be configured to withhold a small elastic band or securing means. Additionally, a smaller cutout section can allow one to use a smaller comb, or to reach my intricate places, when performing meticulous hair styles, that need additional detail. The cutout section in FIG. 1, as can be applied to additional styles of hair combs or hair brushes, can be configured with a small slit 102, which comprises of a channel that runs down the middle of the spine. The channel is configured with an opening that is configured to receive the elastic band or a hair securing means as depicted in FIG. 1. The channel comprises an opening comprising at least two plastic pieces that can be pushed apart in order to receive the hair securing means. Additionally, a user can push the hair securing means along the channel in order to position the hair securing means anywhere along the channel that would allow the user to secure an area or section of hair. The elastic band stays inside of the cutout section without falling out due to the pressure of the plastic pieces holding the slit shut. When enough force is applied by a user, the user is able to bend the cutout section open, and remove or add an elastic band or hair securing means, or other types of fastening lanyard or bands.
  • FIG. 2 is an illustrative representation depicting the full boy of a hair comb that has an elastic band attached. FIG. 2 provides for one embodiment or method of the utilization of the hair comb. In this perspective view, a user has positioned the hair comb on their wrist, while in the active use. The user 200, is seen with the elastic band 202 around their wrist. The elastic band is connected 204 through the cutout section 206 of the hair comb 209. The depicted dotted lines represent a perspective view of the placement of the elastic band 202, behind the user 200's hand, and additionally providing an example of the use and functionality. In one preferred embodiment, a hair stylist or barber is provided the flexibility and the ease of switching sides when cutting hair, while limiting slippage, loss of the comb, or difficulty in positioning the elastic band around the section of hair that has been gathered. Ultimately, the elastic band allows for easy mobility, while avoiding movement restriction, that would prevent a hair stylist from reaching various areas of the hair on a person's head, or achieving more intricate or difficult hair styles.
  • FIGS. 3 and 4 depicts several embodiments of alternative styles of hair combs, in accordance with any of the above embodiments, or any combination thereof. In addition, each of the alternative embodiments depicts various ways that the cutout portion can be implemented. Any of the alternative's depicted in FIG. 3 and their styles of implementation can be combined with any of the remaining alternatives. Additionally, the color and shape of the hair combs can vary depending on manufacturing needs, user preferences, and is further not limited based on what is seen in the representation.
  • In each of the above embodiments disclosed and any combination thereof, a cutout section in a typical hair comb is included. The cutout section or notch includes a slit that allows an elastic band or equivalent slide on or hair securing means. The use is then able to slide the elastic band on their wrist which allows the hair comb to catch itself, as the band on the person's wrist keeps the hair comb in reach, in the event that it is dropped.
