  • the adhesive layer can be a plastics adhesive, but also a mortar, for example in a tiled flooring, though the adhesive layer can also be dispensed with, when, for example, a cast plastics flooring is used. If need be, a primer can also be used.

  • the slits are advantageously made such that the floor 1 is exposed, in particular the surface of the floor can be slightly eroded.

  • a slitted mat 7 can also, of course, additionally be placed onto the old floor covering 2 .
  • This is advantageous, in particular, when the old floor covering has a hard structure, for example in the case of a tiled or parquet flooring.
  • the slits of the mat 7 and the slits 4 made in the old floor covering then lie one above the other, the mat advantageously being laid before the adhesive is introduced into the slits.
  • the invention is not limited to the shown and described illustrative embodiment.
  • the present method can be used on all types of floors, old floor coverings and new floor coverings.
