This invention relates to window shade fixtures and has for the primary object the provision of a combination device for supporting a shade with a protective shield therefor and also 5 is adaptable for the reception of rods employed for draperies, valances, curtains and the like.

With these and other objects in view this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts 10 to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a fragmentary front elevation, partly in section, illustrating a window frame with fixtures applied thereto and supporting a shade and curtains. c

Figure 4 is a plan view illustrating a blank from which a combined supporting and holding element is constructed.

Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral I indicates attaching plates to be secured to a window frame 2 by screws, nails or like fasteners for the purpose of removably receiving a ture 3 so that a window shade 4 and curtains 5 will be properly associated with the window of the frame 2. The fixture 3 includes a shield 6 and shade and curtain rod supporting elements 1. The shield 6 is arranged between the elements I and is of semi-cylindrical shape to protect the material of the shade while on its roller from dirt and like foreign matter but which will permit the shade material to readily wind onto and ofi of the roller. The shield 3 is provided with offsets 8 which fit within notches 9 of the elements 1 to prevent accidental displacement of the shield but which will permit the shield to be separated from the elements when necessary.

The combined shade and curtain rod supporting elements I are similarly constructed and each is made from a blank l including an elongated strip II and a disc-like portion l2. The blank may be composed of any material suitable for the purpose and one end of the strip H is enlarged, as shown at l3,and slotted in H formation, as shown at M, While the opposite end of the strip is reduced in width. The strip II has the disc-like portion l2 integral therewith and is provided with a depression or offset to form the notches 9. The strip II is bent in annular, formation to form the shield engaging portion IS. 'The strip ll after being bent into annular formation has the end l3 extended therefrom and bent upon itself to form a rest to engage with the window frame 2 and the material between the H-shaped slot I4 is bent outwardly to provide spaced tongues IE to be engaged by poles I! for supporting curtains, draperies or the like. The other end of the strip ll after the formation of the annular portion is extended and'bent upon itself to form a bracket engaging tongue [8 removably received within a pocket l9 formed in the plate or bracket I.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that the combined shadeand rod supporting elements 1 can be easily applied or removed from the plates l and also mayhave the shield 3 applied and removed therefrom as well as the poles I1.

The portion l2 of the blank l0 and after bending of the strip ll of said blank into annular formation is bent to close one side of the annular portion or the portion engaged by the shield and is either provided with a slot or opening to receive the pintles of the shade roller. The disc-like portion l2 'instead'of being provided with a slot or opening may be depressed or offset to receive the pintles of the shade roller.

Tongues may be formed integrally with the strips l l to be bent into engagement with the disclike portions I2 for retaining the latter within the annular portion or shield engaging portion of the fixture elements 1 and these tongues are indicated by the character l9 in Figure 9. Said Figures 9 and 10 also show that the end portions of the strip after the bending of the latter into annular formation may be ofiset laterally from said annular portionvand bent in opposite directions to form attaching portions 20 apertured to receive nails or like fasteners 2| for securing the attaching portions directly to the window frame.

Instead of employing a blank, as shown in Figure 8, a blank 20 may be used in the construction of the combined shade and curtain rod supporting element and it is to be noted that this blank has the disc omitted therefrom, otherwise it is constructed similarly to the blank shown in Figure 8. When the blank 20 is employed, a disc, as shown in Figure 1, is used in conjunction therewith. This type of disc is flanged to fit within the portion I5.

Having described the invention, I claim:

1. An annular member for removably securing a semitubular shaped shield, a disc-like element integral with said annular member and providing a support for an end of a shade roller located within the shield, said annular member carrying a pair of offset portions and one of said offset portions providing a bracket engaging ear and the other offset portion forming a rest to engage with a window frame and having struck therefrom tongues to form attaching mediums for ourtain rods.

2. A window shade fixture including an annular member for supporting an end of a shield, a disclike element integral with the annular member and forming a support for a shade roller, and tongues on said annular member and bent to engage the disc-like element, the annular member being securable to a window frame.
