At right angles to said `5 be supported directly by the shoulders of a gripping seat 18 and continuing upwardly is a wearer; v .l trent welll-9 preferably ent in. the shape, 0f a To create Suspenders which. may be fastened half circle. Said rear guide wall 17 and front to the vest or coat of a wearer and removably wall 19 run substantially parallel to each other.

At the upper end of body member 10 the elastic 30 While I have shown herein a preferred embodior resilient materialis folded and held around a ment of my'invention yet I wish it understood metal bar 29 having integral therewith a pin 30 that the same is susceptible of modication and and a clasp 31 for fastening the pin 30 in closed i change without departing from the spirit of my position.V l 35 invention. In use my device may be employed as follows: 35 `Referring more particularly to the drawing: The wearer will unfasten the clasp 31 and Fig.V 1 is a front elevational view of my invenattach the pin 30 at a desired point to the vest tion, and Fig. 2 is a side elevational view thereof. or coat 32. He will then adjust the adjusting Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing my susmeans 11 to the proper height and,if he has a penders in actual use. Fig.4 is arear elevational belt, slip the rear `guide wall 17 under the belt 40 view of my invention. and pull the holding member 1 6 up until the Referring more particularly to the embodibelt rests in the gripping seat 18. If the wearer ment selected to illustrate my invention I employ is not using a belt he may slip a trousers loop a body member 10 of flexible and elastic mathrough the channels `until it rests within the terial. I prefer that the body memberbe of a cutout portion and is held within the corner by 45 single thickness of material, although if desired the anchoring members 27 and 28. 'two or more thicknesses may be used. In order It will readily be seen that my device may be that my Suspenders may be adjustable as to immediately 'fastened and unfastened. If the length I employ an adjusting means llnormally wearer desires, while in sitting position', to reand preferably located` below the center of the move the strain necessarily caused by the sus- 50 body member. Naturally between the adjusting penders he may immediately slip off the holding means 11 and the bottomof the body member 10 member 16 and thus relieve himself from this my Suspenders are of double thickness, and have unnecessary strain.` When the wearer is about afront portion 12 and a back portion 13. .o The to stand all he needsto do is to slip the holding crotch 14 of the front and backportions 12 and member 16 into normal wearing position and 55 he again has the suspenders in actual supporting use. This feature is a decided advantage because there are many occasions when it is necessary or desirable to remove the Suspenders without removing the coat or vest as is now necessary with the prevailing conventional type of Suspenders where the same are supported by the shoulders of the wearer.
It is also obvious that with my device there is a considerable Saving of wear and tear on the clothing as well as a minimum of pressure on the user.
My Suspenders are operated best by employing one on each side of the wearer although if the wearer desires he may add a third suspender at the rear or may place the suspenders at the position best suited to his particular requirements.
Having thus described my invention, y I claim:
`1. Suspenders for Athe support of trousers without shoulder straps and adapted for wearing over 'the outer vshirt lof a wearer, comprising a short body member of elastic or resilient material, a metal bar fastened'to the upper end of said body member, said metal bar Ihaving integral therewith a pin for passing through and fastening to the inside of the coat or vest of a wearer, a clasp for fastening the pin in closed position, adjusting means normally located below the center of the body member, said body member being of single thickness above the adjusting means and of double thickness below said adjusting means, and a combined metal holding member attached to the bottom of said body member and having a rear guide wall, a gripping seat and a, front wall, said walls and seat each having a channel communicating with a cutout portion, and anchoring members between said channels and said cut out portion for holding a trousers loop.
2. In Suspenders of the class described a combined holding member for gripping either the belt or trousers loop of the wearer comprising guide and holding means for gripping a belt and means for slipping around and anchoring a trousers loop, said means having a rear guide wall a gripping seat and a front wall, said seat having an opening and said walls each having corresponding channels and corresponding cutout portions into and through which a trousers loop may pass, and anchoring members between said channels and cutout portions for positioning said trousers loop.
