This invention relates to a combination table and dressing cabinet and has for an object to provide an improved combination article of furniture which maybe used as a regular table or as a dressing cabinet or Vanity.

Yet a further object of this invention is to provide a combination table and dressing cabinet which is easily and quickly convertible from one use to the other use.

A further object of this invention is to provide a combination table and dressing cabinet wherein if used as a table will not interfere with its use as a storage cabinet at thevsame time.

Still a further object of this invention is to provide a combination table and dressing cabinet having a plurality of compartments therein for use both as storage compartments as well as active use as Apart of the dressing `cabinet.

Yet an additional object of this invention is to provide a combination table and dressing cabinet having a plurality of adjustable mirrors rigidly secured therein, which mirrors are easily adjustable to a very convenient angle when the combination article of furniture is used as a dressing cabinet or vanity.

Yet an additional object of this invention is to provide an improvedk combination table and dressing cabinet having a lighting means which is usable not only for the article of furniture which ls in use as a vanity or dressing cabinet, but part of the lighting system is also available for illuminating purposes for the device which is in use as va table.

With the foregoing and other objects in view,

as will hereinafter become apparent, this invention comprises the constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter set forth, disclosed and shown on the accompanying drawings. In these drawings,

The combination table and dressing cabinet 10 has a pair of uprights 11 rising from the base 12. Spaced about the base 12 are a plurality of supporting

feet

13 and 14, the feet 13 being preferably secured adjacent the bottom of the uprights 11. The base 12 comprises two

similar compartments

15 and 16 separated by a center partition 17 to which covers 18 are hinged as at 19. A floor 20 for the

compartments

15 and 16 also provide a floor for the base 12.

The base 12 will preferably be octagonalr in shape, as shown in Figure 8. Two of the sides of each

compartment

15 and 16 arelformed by panels 21 extending along the opposite sides of the uprights 11 up to the bottom of the level of a cabinet compartment 22.

The cabinet compartment 22 is formed by pairs of opposite side walls 23, to each of which a pair of doors 24 are hinged as at 25. The sides 23 of compartment 22 extend somewhat below the bottom 26 of compartment 22 and, secured to the bottom edge of each side 23, is an internally projecting flange 2'7 `providing sliding rails for the extensible sliding board 28 having a handle knob 29 at opposite sides thereof so that it may be opened out in either direction. Handles 30 are also provided on each door 24. A board 31 secured to the bottom 26 of thecompartment 22 provides a base for hinging thereto as at 32- a mirror frame 33 provided with a mirror 34, a handle 35 being provided on the mirror frame 33.

As will be observed from Figures 4 and 5 the hinge 32 on base 31 is spaced somewhat from the edge of bottom 26, allowing the mirror 34 to be entirely enclosed within the doors 24 of compartment 22 against a projection 36 and to be swung over to a substantially angle as shown in Figure 4.

An electric lamp 37 is provided in compartment 22 and controlled by a convenient switch 38 located on one of the panels 23, and the lamp 37 may be used to light up the compartment 22, its lighting effect being intensified by the presence of one of the mirrors 34, when the other mirror 34 is hinged over to the inclined position.

Above the top 39 of compartment 22 is provided a center cross beam 40 extencng between the uprights 11. Hinged to opposite sides of cross beam 40 as at 41 are a pair o table sections 42. When in lowered position the table sections 42 and the cross beam 40 provide a usable table surface which is located at the proper height for table use. The table sections 42 may be hinged upwardly and rest against the uprights l1 as shown in Figure 2 in full position or may be supported at an angle therefrom by means of flexible chains 43 depending from the uprights 11, each chain 43 being provided with an eye member 44 adapted to cooperate with a corresponding hook member 45 underneath the table section 42.

Secured to the bottom of each table section 42 is a triangular support 48 to which is hinged as at 49 a mirror 46 having a handle 47. rThe hinges 49 will be rather stiff in operation so that the mirror 46 may be set at any desired angle or retained against the base 48 when the table leaves 42 are in table position. Another cross beam 50 extends across the top of uprights 11 bracing them together and providing a support for shelves 51 placed thereabove on opposite sides of a lamp support 52, the lamp 53 projecting from each side of the lamp support 52. 37 and 53 ,will be concealed within the members supporting the same inthe conventional manner, and hence has not been shown on the drawings.

In operation, when the device is to be used as a table, the leaves 42 are set in the position shown in Figure 6. The lamps 53 may be used to provide illumination on the table while the shelves 51 may be used as a serving table' to hold food or table articles not immediately needed. y

When the device is to be used as a dressing cabinet or vanity, the leaves 42 are hinged upwardly to the position shown in Figures l or 2, and the compartment doors 24 opened and mirrors 34 placed in any desired position. When in the position shown in Figure 4 it will be apparent that the two mirrors 34 with the lamps 3'7 will be quite convenient for make-up purposes. After raising the mirrors 34 to a horizontal position, the sliding board 28 may be drawn out to a position to support small articles in temporary use.

Further uses for this combination table and dressing cabinet or vanity will be apparent from the construction and disclosure hereinbefore set forth.

The novel features and the operation of this device will be apparent from the foregoing description. While the device has been shown and the structure described in detail, it is obvious that this is not to be considered limited to the exact form disclosed, and that changes may be made therein within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention,

Having thus set forth and disclosed the nature of this invention, what is claimed is:

1. A combination table and dressing cabinet comprising a compartment base, a pair of uprights secured to said base, a cross beam extending between said uprights, a compartment secured to said uprights beneath said cross beam, a pair of table leaves hinged to said cross beam, said compartment supporting saidV table leaves in lowered table position, a mirror hinged to the bottom of each table leaf, and flexible means depending from said uprights and adapted to hold said table leaf with said mirror at a desired angle.

2. A combination table and dressing cabinet comprising a compartment base, a pair of uprights sec red to said base, a cross beam extending between said uprights, a compartment secured to said uprights beneath said cross beam, a pair of table leaves hinged to said cross beam, said compartment supporting said table leaves in lowered table position, and a second cross beam extending between said uprights at their upper end.

3. A combination table and dressing cabinet comprising a compartment base, a pair of uprights secured to said base, a cross beam extending between said uprights, a compartment secured to said uprights beneath said cross beam, a pair of table leaves hinged to said cross beam, said compartment supporting said table leaves in lowered table position, a pair of doors hinged to said compartment, and a third door hinged to the bottom of said compartment between said pair of doors and forming a closure with said pair of doors.

4. A combination table and dressing cabinet comprising a compartment base, a pair of uprights secured to said base, a cross beam extending between said uprights, a compartment secured to said uprights beneath said cross beam, a pair of table leaves hinged to said cross beam, saidvcompartment supporting said table leaves in lowered table position, a pair of doors hinged to said compartment, a third door hinged to the bottom of compartment between said pair of doors and forming a closure with said pair of doors, and a mirror on said third door.

A combination table and dressing cabinet comprising a compartment base, a pair of uprights secured to said base, a cross beam extending between said uprights, -a compartment secured to said uprights beneath said cross beam, a pair of table leaves Vhinged to said cross beam, said compartment supporting said table leaves in lowered table position, a pair of doors hinged to said compartment, a third door hinged to the bottom of said compartment between said pair of doors and forming a closure with said pair of doors, a mirror on said third door, said compartment having a similar pair of doors and a third door on the opposite side thereof, 'and another mirror on said second third door whereby said two mirrors may be used at a different angle.

6. A combination table and dressing cabinet comprising a compartment base, a pair of uprights secured to said base, a cross beam extending between said uprights, a compartment secured to saidl uprights beneath said cross beam, a pair of table leaves hinged to said cross beam, said compartment supporting said table-leaves in lowered table position, a pair of. doors hinged to said compartment, a third door hinged to the bottom of said compartment between said pair of doors and forming a closure with said pair of doors, a mirror on said third door, said compartment having a similar pair of doors and a third door on the opposite side thereof, and another mirror on said second third door whereby said two mirrors may be used at a diierent angle, and lighting means within said compartment, said lighting means being located in alignment with said mirror means to be intensified thereby.

7. A combination table and vanity comprising be hinged over and supported by said compartment when in table position, and to be supported by said uprights when in raised position, and reflecting means on the bottom of said table leaves, said reflecting means being in operative position when the table leaves are in upright position against said uprights.
