Description

v R. IRIARTE SEWING CABINET Aug. 21, 1934.
Filed Feb. 20, 1953 -INVENTOR.
Patented Aug. 21, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2 Claims.
The invention relates to a wooden cabinet which revolves either way and is best described as follows:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the revolving cabinet,
taken on lines B--B, of Fig. 2, with lids removed-showing, also, one of the pivoted drawers partly opened.
Fig. 2 is an elevation of the revolving cabinet.
Fig. 3 is a half section of the revolving cabinet on lines AA of Fig. 2.
In detail, my construction is as follows: The cabinet generally is divided into upper, middle and lower compartments, designated on the drawings by the numerals 3, 2, and 4, respectively.
In general, compartment 4 comprises that portion between the, base, 1'7, and the lower horizontal partition, 18, with its upward extension, 1.
Adapted for reception within said general compartment are pivotably mounted drawers, 8, in series, each provided with a knob, 5, for opening purposes, and a check, 6, affixed to the underside of said partition 18.
In general, compartment 2 comprises that pontion between the said horizontal partition, 18, and the top of the structure. It is divided into a series of compartments by means of vertical partitions, 7.
In general, compartment 3 comprises that portion between the upper horizontal partition, 19, with its upward extension, 20, and the top of the structure.
Lids, 9 and 14, provided with hinges, 16, constitute hinged covers for compartments 2 and 3, respectively. By means of a notch, 15, on the underside of lid 9, adapted to co-act with lid 14 (see Fig. 3), both lids maybe. maintained in open position, if desired.
The cabinet is rotatable by means of a shaft,
13, afiixed to the base, 17, thereof; said shaft is set in an annular recess in a pedestal support, 11, suitably provided with braces, 12. I provide an additional brace, or plate, 10, for said cabinet, located directly below the same; it rests on top of the pedestal and is provided at its center with an aperture so as to permit the shaft, 13, to extend therethrough.
I am aware that the mode of vertical revolving either way is a very common system in any num- 5 ber of several types of different machinery, yet,
I claim:
1. In a device of the character described, a pedestal; a cabinet rotatable on a shaft mounted in said pedestal; a horizontally disposed partition for dividing said cabinet into upper and lower sections; pivoted drawers for said lower section;
a series of vertically disposed partitions for dividing said upper section into major compartments; additional horizontally disposed partitions a for forming a minor compartment in each major compartment; a hinged cover for each minor compartment; a hinged cover for each major compartment so positioned as to overlap said minor compartment hinged cover when in close position; each major compartment cover notched on its lower side to receive its corresponding minor compartment cover so as to maintain both covers in open position.
2. A rotatable cabinet comprised of upper and 3 lower sections; suitable partitions for dividing said upper section into major .and minor compartments; a hinged cover for each major compartment; a hinged cover for each minor compartment; said major compartment hinged cover notched on its under surface to receive said minor compartment hinged cover so as to maintain both said covers in open position.
