To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLr'AM ELDAD Kan Loco, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Inglewood, in the county of Los Angeles and btatc of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Quick-Lunch Cabinets, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to a cabinet for light-housekeeping, the object of which is to combine in one article of furniture all the facilities necessary for the preparation and serving of a meal, so that persons living in contracted quarters may be enabled to get their own meals.

A further object is to enable the cooking apparatus and other utensils to be closed in from sight when not in requisition.

The invention relates to arrangements wherebya stove or other cooking apparatus, normally concealed within a compartment in the cabinet, may be projected laterally therefrom and there supported for use during the cooking operations, to the relative arrangement of compartments with the view to economy of space and the attainment of the highest degree of convenience, and to various details of constructions which will be hereinafter described.

In the accompanying drawings, illustrating a preferable embodiment of my invention, Figure 1 is a perspective View of the cabinet open; Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section through the cabinet with the cooking apparatus compartment open; Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section through the cabinet with the front shelf compartments open, the view being taken on the line 3-3, Fig. 2; Fig. 4. is a vertical longitudinal section through the cabinet with the cooking apparatus closed; and Fig. 5 is a detail perspective of the hinged re 'on of the track.

Reference now being ad to the several views in which like characters of reference indicate similar parts, it will be seen that the cabinet may be made in proportions somewhat similar to those of a chifi'onnier; and, while it may be constructed in various sizes, it will preferably occupy about as much space as one of these articles of furniture. At a convenient height, that is, about the elevation of an ordinary table, the interior of the cabinet is divided by a horizontal partition 1, beneath which may be located

Above the partition 1 is a compartment 7 for the reception of suitable cooking apparatus, as a gas range 8. Such cooking apparatus is mounted on a platform 9, which slides upon the partition 1, preferably by reason of wheels 10 running on tracks 11. The compartment 7 opens through one 'end of the cabinet, and is adapted to be closed by a suitable door 13. Track sections 14 are hinged to the tracks 11 or to the partition 1, so as to be capable of swinging up and down. When lowered into horizontal position in alinement with the tracks 11, they are supported by a leg 15 pivoted thereto. When raised, the track sections 14 and this leg are received in a vertical extension 16 of compartment 7. When the track sections 14: are lowered to and supported in horizontal position, the platform 9 may be pulled out thereon, as shown in Fig. 2. The compartment? isclosed ermanently In front by a lower vertical wa l 17 and an upper vertical wall 18, the latter bein set back from the plane of the former, an the two being connected by a narrow shelf 19. This shelf serves admirably to hold the various accessories to the setting of a table, as salt-cellars, cream pitcher, sugar-bowl, etc. The shelf overhangs the platform 9, but is not wide enough to interfere with the cooking apparatus supported thereon. A narrow vertical extension 20 of the wall 18 closes permanently the front of the extension 16 of the compartment 7.

A horizontal partition 21 forms the top of the compartment 7, and constitutes a deep shelf suitable for the reception of 4, closed by dishes. The

22 and 23 thus provided are 0 en in front, and are adapted to be closed y a door 24, hinged at its lower edge, so as to swing downward into horizontal position, where it is sustained by suitable braces 25. In this position it constitutes a table, either a dining table or a serving table according to the pleasure of the users.

Above the shelf compartment 23 the cabinet may be provided with small compartments containing drawers 26.

A cabinet ofthe character described, having a compartment opening through a side thereof, a door for closing the same, tracks supported horizontally insaid compartment, hinged track sections adapted to e swung upward and received behind said door when the latter is closed, means for said track sections in horizontal position 1n alinement with said tracks, a platform adapted to slide on said tracks and track sections and to be received within said compartment when the door is closed, a horizontal partition constituting the top of said compartment and separating the same from artition terminating short of said door w en closed, and a side-wall of said compartment above risin upward from such end of the partition anl s aced back of the door when closed, where y a shallow-vertical extension of the first-mentioned com artment is formed, said extension being a apted to receive said hinged track sections when the latter are swung upward.

A cabinet of the character described, having a compartment opening through a side thereof, said compartment having a vertical extension, a door for closing said compartment and extension, horizontally arranged tracks in said compartment, hinged o n in front, a door for clos-v too track sections adapted to be extended horizontally outward in alinement with the said tracks, a support for said track sections pivoted thereto, and a platform for supporting cooking apparatus, the said platform being normally received within said compartment and adapted to slide on said tracks and track sections and to be projected from the compartment, the said track sections and the support for the same being adapted to be swung upward into said extension of the compartment when the platform is within the compartment.

A cabinet of the character described, having a compartment opening through an end thereof and provided with a vertical. extension, a door for closing the compartment and the said extension, a platformfor supporting cooking apparatus normally received within said compartment and adapted to be projected out rom the opening thereof, hinged means for supporting the said platform when projected, the said extension of the compartment being adapted to receive said hinged means when not in use, cupboard compartments below said compartment, lower and upper walls closing the front of said compartment, the upper wall being spaced back from the plane of the lower wall, a shelf extendin between the top of the lower wall and the Imttom of 'the upper wall, a horizontal partition forming the top of said compartment, and constitutmg a deep shelf above the other shelf, the compartments above the two shelves bein open in front, a door for closing such she f compartments, said door being hinged at its lower edge to swin downward tohorizontal position to constitute a table, and means for sustaining the same in horizontal position.
