A further object of the invention'is Yconstruction and arrangement, strong, durable, eliicient and convenient in its use, oc-,
cupying when closed a comparatively small space, readily set up and comparatively inpensive to manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter more. yspecilically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment ofthe invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawings whereinr like reference characters denote the corresponding parts throughout the several views, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a combined kitchen cabinet and table in accordance withthis invention and illustrated in closed position, Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional viewfon line Z-Z Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a sectional plan on line X`X Fig. l, Fig. 4` is a sectional plan on line Y-Y Fig. 2, Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sec tional View illustrating 'the shiftable ele ments extendedto provide a table, and Fig. 6 is a top plan view of the article when eX- tended to provide the table.
wardly with `respect to the walls 8, 9.
purposes.
Referring tothe drawings in detail, 7
denotesfa back, 8 and 9 sides which` are secured 'to the back and each of which has 'y `toniplate which is ofinaterially less width than the portions 10y of the sides andthe said bottom plate 12 is secured to. the back 7 and the sides 8 and 9. f
Mounted upon the shoulders 11 is a plat-y v form 13, which projects from .the portions 10 of the side walls 8, 9 and abuts against a vertically disposed ,partition plate` 14, which normally abuts againstA the sides 8, 9
and provides a compartment l5 anda chamber which is divided by the shelves 16 `into a plurality oi' compartments 17. Mounted upon andsecured to the platform' 13 `and' also secured tothe shelves 16 and to a spacing member 18 is ra front frame 19 hinged at oneAA side, as at 20, tothe wall 9. Hinged to the 'trent frame, as at 21, is a pair of oppositely disposed doorsr which, when closed are connected together by latches 23. The elements 13 to 23 bothy inclusive 4provide what may be termed a'hinged receptacle which is capable of .beingswung out- The compartments 17-of'the receptacle are adapted to have any kitchen articles'or other de# vices arranged therein.
Projecting forwardly from the back 7, as well as beingV secured thereto and to the tops of the walls 8, 9 is a top plate 24 between which andthe shoulders 11 is adapted to be lpositioned the receptacle just referred to.
The ytop plate 24 has connected Vthereto a vertically disposed top piece 25 for ornamental Arranged within the lower portion of the chamber 15, are vertically disposed uprights 27 Vto each of which is pivotally connected, as at 98, the inner pair 29 of a series of pairs of levers 30, 31 and 32 forming a lazy tongs.
The levers of the pairs 30, 31 are pivotally l connected together as at 33, the levers of the pair 31 `are pivotally connected to the levers of the pair 30, as at 34, and the levers of the pair 3l are pivotally connected to the levers of the pair 32, as at 35, and the levers of the pair 30 are pivotally connected tothe levers of the pair 29, as at 36. The lazy tongs which are pivotaly connected to one upright 27 oppose the lazy tongs pivotally connected tothe other upright 27.`
are beveled so that when theflazy tongs are .Y I extended, fthe table leaves will snugly'iitasV l0 illustrated inFigf. 5. Vhen the lazytongs are folded, Y the Vtableleaves 37,V "38 'and 39 will be positioned in V,parallel.relation and extendvertically of the Yupper portion; of
