nature of which will appear as the description proceeds, the inventioncomprehends the pro 1 visionof a cigarette rolling machine which shall embody a table provided with a recess, an apron overlying the table and terminally secured thereto at opposite sides of the recess, the apron hav .4 ing a portion'thereof positioned in the recess to provide aloop for the reception of the tobacco from which the cigarette is to be made and the apron being adapted to support beyond the loop the paper from which the wrapper of. the cigside of the recess and loop, and a carrier for the roller slidably mounted on the table to move the roller across and beyond the recess and loop so as to, close the open upper side of the loop 3 and thereafter actuate the apron to carry the loop out of the recess to place the tobacco in the paper, to roll the paper about the tobacco,

and. to discharge the rolled cigarette from the apron.

While I have described the principle of the invention, together withthe structure which I now consider the preferred embodimentthereof, it is to be understood that the structure shown is merely illustrative and that such changes may be made, when desired, as fall within'the scope of the invention as claimed.

- What is claimed is:

A cigarette rollingmachine comprising a plate, a pocket formed transversely of the length of the plate and intermediate the ends thereof, the

members formed with the sides of the plate, a U-' shaped carriage having outturned end portions slidable in said guide members, a roller journ'aled in the parallel legs of the carriage, an apron overlying the plate and pocket and engaging over the roller, and means for securing the ends of the, apron against movement; .l I
