- Attorney March 3- H. H. GERJETS 5 CIGARETTE RECEPTACLE AND ROLLER Filed April 7, 1932 2 Sheets-Sheet Inventor Patented Mar. 21, 1933 UNITED STATES PATENT HARRY H. GERJET'S, or BELLINGHAM, WASHINGTON CIGARETTE RECEPTACLE AND ROLLER Application filed April 7,
This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in special receptacles, and more particularly to a novel cigarette case which involves means whereby cigarettes can be easily rolled and conveniently stored.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a combination cigarette case and roller wherein cigarettes can be rolled and surplus stock stored.
Other important objects of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specification.
In the drawings Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the device closed.
Fig. 2 represents a perspective view of the device opened.
7 Fig. 3 represents a top plan view of the device stripped for use in rolling cigarettes.
Fig. 4 represents a longitudinal sectional view through the device as shown in Fig. 3.
h Fig. 5 represents a transverse sectional View taken substantially on line 5-5 of Fig. 4. k
Fig. 6 represents a perspective view of the slider.
Fig. 7 represents a fragmentary top plan view of the rolling device with the slider removed.
Referring to ,the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that numeral 5 represents the cover section while numeral 6 generallv Qefers to the rolled cigarette support and rolling device.
This combination device 6 includes a plate 7 which is provided with a pair of side walls 8-8 (see Fig. 5), each having its edge portion turned inwardly as at 9 to terminate in spaced relation from the plate 7 to define a guideway 10in which the side walls 1111 of the slider generally referred to by numeral 12 can engage and freely slide longitudinally of the plate 7 The slider 12 is provided with a platform 13 connecting the upper edges of the side walls 1111, and as is clearly shown in Fig. 6, one end portion of the platform 11 is disposed downwardly as at 14 and extended as at 15 in this lowered position to the adjacent end of the slider where it extends up 1932. Serial No. 603,881.
wardly to form the flange 16. The upper edge of this flange 16 is bent inwardly as at 17 and between this edge portion 17 and the flange 16, one end of the cigarette rolling web 18 can be clamped. The other end of the platform 13 is bent under itself to provide a clamping flange whereby the opposite edge of the web 18 canibe secured to this lastmentioned edge of this platform 13. c
The portion of the platform 13 adjacent the flange 16 thus formed provides a pocket 19. A roll 20 is disposed between the inturned edge portions of the side'walls 88 on the plate 7 and this roll is located under the web 18. The web 18 sags into the pocket 19 and in this manner shown clearly in Fig. 4.
The operation of this device is as follows: The slider is first set so that the flange 16 is next to the roll 18. Then the web is depressed into the pocket 19 and a quantity of tobacco only, placed in this pocket. Now move the slider in direction indicated .by the arrow rolling the tobacco into a compact roll up on the raised platform 13. Then place a moistened gummed paper on the web with the gummed side of paper, up and the other edge nearest the roll 18 and move the slider the balance of the way indicated by the arrow. This will draw the paper around the roll of tobacco completing the cigarette.
Sliding the slider back will eject cigarette into the lid which makes a convenient tray for quite a number of cigarettes while rollmg.
While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having thus described my invention,'what I claim as new is '1. In combination, a cigarette case, said cigarette'case being in sections, one section being a cover, the other section being provided with a slideway, a traveling web in the slideway, a transverse structure on the last-mentioned section over which the web travels, and a pocket on one side of the transverse member into which the web extends, and in which and upon which web a cigarette paper and, tobacco can be placed.
2. In combination, a cigarette case, said cigarette case being in sections, one section being a cover, the other section being provided with a slideway a traveling web in the slideway, a transverse structure onthe lastmentioned section over which the web travels, a pocket on one side ofthe transverse member into which the Web extends, and in which and upon which web 'a cigarette paper and tobacco can be placed, jSa/id' last-mentioned section being provided with side walls extending upwardly beyond the. webland ,be-i
tween which finished cigarettes can be stored. 3. A cigarette rolling device comprising a plate havingside Walls bent downwardly to provideguides, a cross member between the'side walls, a slider movable *in the guidewaysyand a cigarette rolling web carried by i the said'slider and being-disposed over the oss member. testimony -whereof I affix my signa- HARRY E ETS;
