Description

' NOTEBOOK Oct. 8, 1929.
Filed May 51, 1927 Patented Oct. s, 1929 UNITED STATES PATENT o -nce JOSEPH DOBOI, 0F PARIS, FRANCE NOTEBOOK Application filed May 31, 1927, Serial No.
This invention relates to a note book in which the notes are to be written on a paper band which is interchangeably mounted on two rollers so that the portion of the paper band, on which the writing is to be. done, can be replaced, according to requirement by a fresh portion.
This note-book is characterized by the manner in which the paper band is mounted and by the fact that the central portion of said notebook may be used as cigarette-case, purse, powder-box and the like.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing in which- Fig. 1 is a transverse section showing the different elements of the device separately.
Fig. 2 shows in a similar section the assembled note-book.
Fig. 3 is a section on line A-A of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a section on line B--B of Fig. 2.
The note-book comprises a fiat case 3 of metal, tortoise-shell, or celluloid, to be opened at theside and comprising an aperture 5 over which the interchangeable paper-band 01 extends which is mounted on rollers b, 0. These two rollers are arranged at the two, ends of an element 2 which fits accurately into the case 3 but is adapted to be easily separate from the same. This element 2 comprises, with this object in view, two compartments 2, 2 designed to receive the rollers b, 0 respectively, the journals 6, 0 of these rollers engaging with grooves 4, l in the partitions which form the ends of the two compartments 2. Between these two compartments extends a solid,- perfectly plane part 2 which forms the support over which the paperband unwinds and which, when the element 2 is mounted in case 3, is situated accurately behind the aperture 5 of this case 3. The central portion of this element 2 remains free to be used as a cigarette-case-purse, powderbox or the like. a
To bring the paper-band, which has been mountedonthetworollersb,c into the correct position, it is sufficient, the element 2 having been removed from case 3, to place the journals b, cof said rollers into the grooves 4, 4 so that the paper-band between these two 195,404, and in France February 2, 1927. 4
rollers is lying on the support 2 After this, the element 2, is inserted into the case 3 which is then closed by shutting the lid. The portion of the paper-band which rests on the support 2 stands behind the aperture 5 0f the case so that it can be used for writin notes. When this portion of the paper-ban is full, another portion can be substituted for the same by rotating the fluted wheels 9 the circumference of which projects into suitable slots.
A flexible blade 6 exerts an elastic pressure upon each roller to press the same against the wall of the case corresponding to the un- F wound portion of the paper band.
I claim A note-book, comprising in combination an outer casing composed of two equal boxlike parts hingedly connected the one with the other one of said parts having a large t aperture, a platen removably mounted in said casing under said aperture, a support at the right side and a support at the left side of said platen, said supports being made F in one piece with said platen, said supports being box-like open at the upper side and having each,a vertical slot in each end wall downwardly extending from the top edge,
d said slots being adapted to supporta pair of rollers having a paper strip attached thereto, a pocket readily accessible when said casing is opened formed under said platen by said supports at the right and left sides of said laten.
In testimony whereo'ijf I affix my signature.
