This invention relatesparticularlylto a means for draining in a sanitary manner a hospital or invalid bedrand especially to a structure in the form of an attachment for such a bed, the construction of which and the features of noveltyand advantage of which ivill be understood from the description beow. Y

It is an object of this invention to provide a new and novel device of this character which may be conveniently and cheaply installed in a bed or the like whereby to facilitate the sanitary draining of the bed or the like, without the removal of the patient.

It is also an object of the invention to provide a device of the character described including removable drainage receptacles.

t is also an object of this invention to provide a device of the character described which may be cheaply and easily constructed and which is simple and sanitary and satisfactory in operation, and is durable and r gged in construction.

These and other objects ofthe invention, its nature, and its composition and arrangement and combination-of parts will be readily understood by anyone acquainted with the art to which thisinvention relates upon consulting the following description of the drawings in which:

Figure 1 is a top plan view of the drain.

Figure 2 is a transverse vertical sectional view through the drain showing in dotted lines in supporting bed, and showing its full lines the mannerof associating the removable drainage receptacle.

Referring in detail to the drawings the numeral 5 generally designates a bed of the hospital or invalid type, through the mattress and spring of which extends a vertical opening 6, in which is positioned a rubber or other composition tube 7 on the upper end of which and positioned about the upper end of the opening thereof is a series of flexible disks formed integrally with the tube 7. It

will be observed that the underside of the element 8 is provided with circumferential, radially outwardly reduced areas 9, 10 and 11, whereby to provide for a radial inward slope toward the upper end of the tube 7 of a flexible circular plate or 7 element 12 superimposed upon the disk 8 and provided with a central opening communicating withthe upper end of the tube 7. The plate 12 constitutes the drainage surface to gravitationally convey the drainage into the tube 7.

Extended into the lower end of the tube 7 is a metallic tube 13 whose lower end portion 14 is constructed to receive thereon in threaded manner, a detachable receptacle coupling generally designated 15.

The receptacle coupling 15 comprises a solid square body 16 which has on its upper surface the raised portion 17, the body 16 and the portion 17 being provided with the screw threaded passage 18 for screwing upon,v

the lower end of the metal tube 13. Suitably secured to the under side of the body 16 are three rigid walls 19, 20, and 21 which have inwardly directed flangesr22 for hooking under and supporting a square or polygonal lateral flange 23 (shown in Figure 3) on the neck 24 of a drainage receptacle designated 25. A swingable member 26'is hinged to the rigid wall 19 and the body 16 as indicated at 27 to permit removal of the bottle neck from the coupling and a spring detent 28 engages an extension 29 on the swingable member 26 to maintain it in closed position shown in Figure 3, whereby to support and retain the receptacle against rotation relative to the coupling 15.

The receptacle 25 consists of a suitable sanitary receptacle provided with a handle 30 for convenience. The method of coupling the receptacle in communication with the lower end of the metal tube 13 is believed to be obvious.

It is believed that the above description taken in connection with the drawings is sufficient disclosure of the invention to enable anyone acquainted with the art to which this invention relates to understand and construct the same, and further description will therefore not be given.

It isto be definitely understood that I do not desire to limit the application'of this invention to the particular modification set out herein to illustrate the principles thereof, and-any change or changes may be made in material of structure and arrangement of parts consistent with the spirit and scope of the invention I Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:

1. A sanitary draining device comprising a tube, a lateral extension on the upper end of the tube for conveying drainage gravitationally thereinto, a second tube within and extended from the lower end of the first mentioned tube, quick detachable coupling means removably carried on the lower end of the second tube, a removable drainage receptacle suspended in communication with said lower end of the second tube by said quick detachable coupling means, and removable weights on the second tube above and supported by the said coupling m'eans to draw the device downwardly with'respect to a supporting surface so as to facilitate the drainage into the tube gravitationally.

2. A sanitary draining device comprising, a tubular member, anannular relatively flexible lateral extension on the upper end of the member for engaging a supporting surface, a rigid tube within and extending from the lower end of the tubular member, a quick-acting coupling carried by the lower end of the rigid tube, a removable neck equipped receptacle, polygonal means on the neck of the receptacle for cooperating with said coupling, whereby the receptacle is quick-detachably and non-rotatably carried by said coupling in communication with the rigid tube, said coupling comprising a body portion threaded on the rigid tube, latch means carriedby the body for embracing the polygonal means on the neck of the recep tacle.

3. A sanitary draining device comprising, a tubular member, an annular relatively flexible lateral extension on the upper end of the member for engaging a supporting surface, a rigid tube within and extending from the lower end of the tubular member, a quickacting coupling carried by the lower end of the rigid tube, a removable neck-equipped receptacle, means carried by the neck of the the said annularextensionto form downwardly slanted surfaces in said extension converging at the upper end of the tubular member.

A sanitary draining device comprising a flexible tube having on its upper end deformable means for conveying drainage into the flexible tube, and weighted receptacle means for receiving the drainage from the flexible tube, said receptacle means comprising a relatively long vertical rigid tube inserted in the lower end of the flexible tube, a block threaded on the lower end of the rigid tube, a receptacle having a flanged neck receivable in an opening in the block for suspending the same, and latch means on the block for closing a portion of the opening for confining the flanged receptacle neck.

5. A sanitary draining device comprising a flexible tube having on its upper end deformable means for conveying drainage into the flexible tube, and weighted receptacle means for receiving the drainage from the flexible tube, said receptacle means comprising a relatively long vertical rigid tube inserted in the lower end of the flexible tube, a block threaded on the lower end of the rigid tube, a receptacle having a flanged neck receivable'in an opening in the block for suspending the same, and latch means on the block for closing a portion of the opening for confining the flanged receptacle neck, and weights surrounding the rigid tube and sup ported by the block for deforming the deformable means.

6. A sanitary draining device comprising a flexible tube having on its upper end deformable means for conveying drainage into the flexible tube, and weighted receptacle means for receiving the drainage from the flexible tube, said receptacle means comprising a relatively long vertical rigid tube inserted in the lower end of the flexible tube, a block threaded on the lower end of the rigid tube, a receptacle having a flanged neck receivable in an opening in the block for suspending the same, and latch means on'the block for closing a portion of the opening for confining the flanged receptacle neck, and weights surrounding the rigid tube and supported by the block for deforming the deformable means, said weights comprising pairs of semi-annuli hinged together spring means for urging the semi-annuli'together around the rigid tube.
