MILK-STOOL.
Patented Oct. 24, 1911. semi no. 044,905.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEE TYREMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stroudsburg, in the county of Monroe and State of Penns lvania, have invented a new and useful Mil -Stool, of which the following is a specification.
' t is the'object of the prwent invention to provide a milking stool of simple and improved construction, so fashioned that it may be readily sterilized and kept clean, the milking stool being provided with suitable means whereby the milk pail may be supported from the stool, directly, instead of eing held between the knees of the oper ator, as is the common custom.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that chan es in the'precise embodiment of inven tion erein disclosed can be made within the, scope of what is claimed witliout departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawingse-Fi ure 1 shows the invention in perspective; ig. 2 is a fragmental perspective showing one end of the pail support; and Fig. 3. is a vertical transverse section of the structure shown in Fig. 1. Fig. tie a fragmental ipransverse section on the line AB of 11 carrying out the invention there is provided as a primary and fundamental element, a base plate 1, preferably fashioned from metal, and equipped with three or porting legs. 2, these legs being preferably although not neeessar' y fashioned from channel members. The legs 2 flare outwardly, beyond the periphery of the base plate 1, the legs being secured upon the. base plate 1 by means of rivets 3, or otler securing elements adapted to a like en The invention further includes a pail holder, the same comprisin a ring 4, contracted and radially exten ed, to form an arm 5. In the rounded end 6 of'the arm 5, there is a depending finger 7, the extremity of which outstands'from the extremity of the arm 5. In practical o eration, the arm the er 7 ing inserted through a suitplate 1 permittin of th the base plate 1,
ableopening 8 in the base plate. The pail, shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, is then inserted into the ring 4. Obviously, the pail holder may be swun about horizontally, to any desired angle, t the igei' 7 and the opening 8 in the base this adjustment. the arm 5 ma be fash- 1oned in one piece, or, if desire the side members 9 of thearm 5 may be welded or otherwise secured to the extremities of the member 4, as shown at 10.
The pail, when mounted in the member 4, will be securely upheld, for adjustment in a horizontal plane, the flarin of the legs 3 permittin the auxilia hanfle which is loca ted at t 0 bottom of t e pail to pass downwardly and to clear the base plate I of the stopl proper. Obviously, the spacing of the members 9 of the arm 5, permits the downward passage of the auxiliary handle of the pail.
Referring particularly to Fig. 4, it is to noted that the prong 7 of the arm 5, en gages not only beneath the base plate 1, but as well, passes through and engages beneath the end of one of the legs 2. The said leg' 2, therefore, serves as a reinforcing element for the base plate 1, preventing the prong 7 from tearing its way u wardl through the plate 1, under the weig t of t e pail which is carried by the rin he ring 4 an 4. Having thus descriied the invention, what is claimed is:
1. In a device .of supporting1 structure, seat for t e operator, and'a element comprising a ring, one portion of which is contracted and radially extended, to form an arm, consistin of spaced parts between which the lower fiandle of the pail may pass; there being a prong at one end e arm, adapted to register in an opening in the supporting structure, to support the pail holder, and to provide for a tilting movement thereof 1n a substantially the class described, a
pail holding horizontal lane.
2. In a evice of the class described, a. pail holder consisting of a rin a portion of which is contracted and radial y extended to form an arm, there being arm, an outstanding pron and a sup orting structure comprising a use plate, a apted to serve as a seat for the operator, there being in the base plate, an opening, through at the end of the.
adapted to serve as a.
whicl ithe pron is adapted to extend, to engage beneath t 0 base p ate, therebymaintaming the pail holder against vertical movement, but for lateral swinging movement.
3. In a, device of the class described, a stool eonsisti of a base plate and legs, one ofwhioh 1s extended' beneath the base plate; and a pail holder, ada ted to overlie the base plate the pail ho der having a 7 prong, adapted to enter alined openings in the base plate and in said extended portion of the leg, and to extend beyond the periphery of said openings, said extended portion of the leg constituting a reinforcing element 15 for the base plate, to withstand thepull of the prong, under the weight of the pail which is in pail holder.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as m own, I have hereto aifixed my signa- 20 tux-e 1n the presenee of two witnesses.
